Advice Please :)

Post by templar67 »

Hello everyone! This is first (hopefully of many) posts on this forum and I was wondering if I could get some advice on current diet plan. I am a 23 year old and I do weight training and cardio every second day consistently. The diet plan I am currently on is the following:
Breakfast: 1 cup of muesli /w milk and coffee
Lunch: Big salad consisting of lettuce, tomatoes and carrots /w no sauce, 2 chicken strips cooked on the frying plan with some pepper (about 100 grams of chicken total) and a glass of milk
snack: 1 large apple and a small yogurt (about 50 cal)
dinner: about 200-250 grams of chicken with some lemon juice and garlic and some frozen vegetables (roughly 150 grams worth of peas and corn)
after dinner snack: about an 8th of a watermelon and a popsickle (30 cal).
and water throughout the day.

So that's it! sorry to make everyone read so much :), but I'm new to dieting and I'm looking for some guidance. goal is to lose about 40 pds as soon as possible (idealy in 4 months).

Thanks in advance!

(Add a snack here.)

Lunch: Big salad consisting of lettuce, tomatoes and carrots /w no sauce, 2 chicken strips cooked on the frying plan with some pepper (about 100 grams of chicken total) and a glass of milk (Should be fine.)

snack: 1 large apple and a small yogurt (about 50 cal) (Good, but I'd give the Apple 10-15 minutes to digest before having the Yoghurt.)

dinner: about 200-250 grams of chicken with some lemon juice and garlic and some frozen vegetables (roughly 150 grams worth of peas and corn)
after dinner snack: about an 8th of a watermelon and a popsickle (30 cal).
and water throughout the day.

(Seems fine, but I'd be wary of Watermelon. It is high GI, which does impact qutie a bit on Bloodsugar, and you've already had frozen veggies, which might be low GI, but still have some impact thesmelves. plus Watermelon would be better eaten like the Apple, about 10-15 minutes pre-meal, which would cause a problem, so I'd say ditch it.)

(You can have another snack about 2-3 hours after Dinner, which could have more Fruit, but I'd go a little low Carb here and just stick to a small portion of Grapes or something like that, and you could have a Protein source as well.)
Oh and don't apologise for anything. If you need to write a lot of stuff sometimes, in order to let people know what you're talking about, you've got to do that.

It's not a bad thing, you're just helping us to help you, so that's a good thing, so if you need to write anything again that's 3x as long, or maybe longer still, just go for it, it's cool :).

what would you suggest for a protein source for snack after dinner? maybe a bit of cheese or something?

Low Fat Cheese, or some Baked Beans perhaps.
