do you lose weight?

Post by earthy »

So I've always been curious, but I don't know if anyone would know the answer. When you lose weight where does it go? If I were to suddenly lose 10 pounds how does body get rid of it? Does it come out as feces/sweat/urine?

I don't know, I guess this is more of a curiosity than an actual weight loss question.

thought would be, it is broken down into component Molecules or Atoms, and either urinated or excreted away.

lol

Whne you burn fat that mean that your body is using your extra fat, witch are convert in calories and burn (used in fact) by your "cellules" who makes your body function, exactly the same way they use carbs or proteïn. So the fat your burning is tranform in energie or warmth.

I don't know if I explain it well, tough I had science class about this

A lot of energy is heat energy, as food helps to heat the body, especially when it's cold.

heat is created not converted

Post by earthy »

Mass/Fat is not converted into heat. A chemical reaction that converts fat into something (which gives you energy) and this reaction can release heat, this is called an exothermic reaction.

Heat is a form of energy. Fat is a form of mass. Given the conservation of mass you cannot say that all of your weight is going into energy, there has to be some other way your body is loosing this weight. I used to want to major in chemistry and physics so I know a lot of big words. Maybe I should have actually given biology a try?
