What happens...

Post by (Rage) »

What happens when you eat then immediately go to sleep.
Like not 30 minutes later or anything, less. 20- minutes?

Gain fat?
Or just food doesnt digest?
or any health problems?

I have a bad habits, where sometimes I eat and immediately go to sleep. Nap actually.

Yes. Your Metabolism burns calories when sedentary, and that means during sleep. Eating protein sources prior to sleep can protect muscle stores, typically for around 3 hours post nutrient consumption.

The problems occur if people eat a load of crap before sleep, and store more calories as Fat than can be burned effectively, so you get storage of excess calories.

Just remember to not eat loads of healthy food, as the calories could still convert to excess.

The other thing is that you can have Carbs. You won't need as many as normal but it can be an option, as long as it doesn't affect sleep patterns which for most it doesn't.

usual meal before sleep is white rice, with grilled chicken, & veggies.

So no junk food, except that white rice is high GI carbs...=S!

White Rice is high GI, but I'd keep portions low, to avoid a high Glycemic Load.

Otherwise no real problem there.

Eating 2 hours later is not a really big deal. White Rice is not really bad Carbs, but when in high portions, it can cause a quite high Glycemic load, which highly elevates Bloodsugar levels, and when this occurs regularly, highly elevated / fluctuated Bloodsugar, can lead to Diabetes.

aha, i see.

I usually eat rice once a day, about half a plate, not too much I believe...only when i get reallllllllllllllllly hungry, thats when I eat a lot.

It's funny to say, yest last meal was from MAC a mac chicken, french fries, coke...probably was close to 800 cals!, and today body looks BETTER, and I lost a little WEIGHT, and didn't gain a thing YEST.

=S!
Does that make any sort of sense? Cause body is really confusing!

Are you sure it's not you who's confusing :P :P .

Joke :).

No I don't understand how you lost weight, doing something like that, unless you don't have a fixed weigh in time, and other factors then come into it.

Weighing on an empty stomach first thing, is almost certainly going to produce a different reading, compared to the night before, so that might be one reason.

- it meant to say it's not the best thing to do actually, i missed a word
- i wouldn't have rice before bed if i was you, instead have in the the meal or second meal after working out is a much better option
- half a plate in one siting is too much, halve it
- long term you will gain wt and fat at that if you continue w/ maccas before bed

As long as portions arer kept low, I don't see a problem with Rice before bed, particualrly if it's Brown.

Swanso:

I only eat a lot when I'm really hungry. Today, I got depressed, and slept before eating lunch, and I woke up a while ago, and had about the size of one palm...most of the time i have about the size of two palms...anyway.

I don't think I can workout anymore, these days at least. I really can barely stand on feet, mind working out. I'm too tired.

Bossman:

Yes, I know the whole weight thing.
After I eat from Mac, I ained about 0.2-0.4 only. I usually gain a whole kg, and get a huge , but I didn't, and it wasn't a day I worked out in.

body is really weird. With weight and shape. I never understood it.

Oh and, I don't have brown rice, never had it =S.

Well in that case then still keep White Rice lowered in portions. Half a plate sounds too big before bed. I'd say 2tbspns max.
