Whey protein drinks all have some amount of sugar

so taste aside, is this self defeating to have the sugar.

Chocolate/vanilla etc I havent found a drink withno sugar.

Is there one out there?

That's because things like Maltodextrin spike Bloodsugar when it's lower like after training, so the energy sugars / siimple and high GI Carbs, are beneficial.

So that's a good thing to have the sugar in it.

Carbs make the Protein usage better, by stimulating Insulin to deliver Protein into the muscles.

However if the person ate somethign within about 1-2 hours of training, the length of workout, and amount of Glycogen usage, could contribute to some kind of post-workout Insulin Spike, depending on how much of the Carbs eaten earlier still were being utilised in the body, so in some circumstances, having a low Carb whey shake wouldn't be much of an issue.

However Carb based ones are better, and generally the difference in price is nothing to worry about.
