Left section more defined than Right section?

Post by djg »

I've been working out almost every day for about 2 weeks now and I've been doing heavy ab workouts whenever I'm at the gym. I still haven't lost all the fat on stomach to make abs really show, but when I flex abs and feel them, it almost feels as if left ab section is more defined than right ab section despite me doing symmetrical workouts.

Currently I am 5"10, 175lbs if that means anything.

Does anyone have a possible explanation for this?

That's pretty normal. abs are more developed on one side than the other. It happens with other muscle groups as well. One bicep or quadricep for example could be bigger than the other.

A lot of muscles can have a weaker opposite, I.E one bicep weaker than another, as the dominant side you have, will develop more in childhood through increased use.

The abs may well be the same.

It could be genetics, though there's a slight chance it could also be down to technique, if you execute some Abs exercises, or just one exercise without exacting form, and create uneven stimulus leading to lopsided Ads muscles.

So make sure technique is good, though realistically, I think it's more likely genetics than anything else.
