How long should I change workout routine?

Post by lpandev33 »

I am one of your most recent members (or maybe the newest one) so hello and this is first topic..

I've been reading though at various sites about how long and WHAT the changes should be included to workout routine and I've along with a lot of answers but I don't know which is the real one. I was consulting with Mr.Bierek and he said to me that I should change it each week for each muscle group and don't do the exact same exercises for each workout. Can I have a deep explanation of question?

Thanks!

Hi Lpandev, good to talk to you.

Well you can certainly do what Kris says yes, but many people like to alter their routines every 2-6 weeks.

The methodology being that this prevents the muscles from becoming accustomed to a particular workout, because the same workout could become less efficient over time.

theory is unless you get bored with a workout, then you don't need to change it unless it stops performing for you. This is often the case with marathon runners I believe, that the same routine permits gradual progress until the ability to run one is attained and I would imagine, without having spoken to many who have done it, that you would not need to alter a marathon preparation routine at all or at least not much over time, apart from gradually increasing the length of runs.

Though if you want to change a routine weekly, then yes by all means, because if you get the workouts right you will progress :).
