So after being overweight for a few years since having 2 children youngest of which is 22 months I'm now taking the time to sort myself out. I've joined the gym and have a programme to follow there which I plan to do 5 mornings a week, but need advice on the diet plan I should follow and what types of food I should be eating and when!? Thanks for any advice anyone can give!

Hi Jade, good to speak to you.
What times do you eat at and what foods do you eat at those times?

Currently I don't really eat until lunch and then eat a sandwich and then just rubbish for dinner and snack on anything and everything even when i'm not hungry. I know I need to start eating breakfast but just have no idea where to start..? thankyou
Re: Complete newbie with no idea what i'm doing
This kind of system might work for you. It's something I've posted before.
Breakfast
Option 1.
Bowl of Whole-grain Cereal and scrambled Eggs, (2 Egg Whites + Yolk)
Option 2.
Protein shake, small portion of Nuts, (excluding higher carb ones like Cashews, Chestnuts and Grapenuts).
Snack
Option 1.
Portion of Turkey + Orange
Option 2.
Small Portion of Peanuts, some Chicken
Lunch
Option 1.
Large Beef Sandwich with trimmings, I.E. Tomato, Lettuce, Cucumber etc.
Option 2.
Bowl of Chicken Soup, + Pot of yoghurt.
Snack
Option 1.
Turkey + Cashews
Option 2.
Ham + 2 large Tomatos
Dinner
Option 1.
Pork with mashed Potato.
Option 2.
Chicken and Rice
Option 3.
100g Halibut + Broccoli
Snack
Option 1.
Beans on Toast
Option 2.
Ham Sandwich, no trimmings.
Easy on the bread with both options.
You could add a few things to certain meals, like Sea Salt, Cracked Black Pepper, Parsley, Mustard, Herbs, Garlic.

I came across a new cookbook called Fixate- http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitnes ... recipes.do It hasn't come in yet but I am really excited. Autumn is one of favorite trainers and her programs have really helped find a passion for exercising. I hope this helps

One thing I'd suggest is keeping track of what you eat. The "snack on anything and everything" part is obviously an issue. Try writing down everything you eat (or use an app if you prefer). Just seeing it all written down can inspire you to make changes. Good luck!jade2406 wrote:Currently I don't really eat until lunch and then eat a sandwich and then just rubbish for dinner and snack on anything and everything even when i'm not hungry. I would start with small changes on the nutrition for the first 2 weeks, so you don't run out of will power. Take some of the meals that Boss Man advised and then add them progressively to your diet. You'll notice the difference with just a few changes and that will empower you to do more changes.
