Supplement help

Post by delux27 »

I started working out about a month ago. I was at 285 then dropped to 260, the results came from a bad break up, lots of running and lack of eating.

Now that I have got past the unhealthy form of weight loss I am ready to do it the right way. Backround info:
27 , 6'1", active work schedule, doing 1 hour workouts split in half between cardio/weights 5 days a week in the mornings. Also eating an avg of 1200-1500 calories a day.

I purchased some supplements that were recommended at gnc.

Mega men powered extreme training vitapack program
Super HD cellucor thermogenic
Amplified wheybolic extreme 60 powder

Now question is when do I take all these supplements in relation to workouts and meals?

For the first 2 days I have been waking up taking the thermogenic on an empty stomach. Waiting 30 mins before eating breakfast with the mutivita pack then 30 more mins befor the 1 hour workouts then followed by the protein drink 30 mins after the workout, Then about 5 hours later taking the 2nd thermogenic. But this routine has me feeling slightly nauseous and a little jittery. Is this normal? Will body adjust and is it just kinda in shock to the changes in nutrition? Should I be taking them in different order/times?

Hi Delux, good to talk to you.

Firstly it could be down to the thermogenic and to be honest weight loss pills are a pile of trash and don't believe anyone who says they work let alone anyone in store.

The herbal ones almost certainly don't work and the chemical ones can cause harm, which is what Hydroxycut Hardcore did when it killed people.

So frankly ditch that crap. Seriously just through those nasty things in the bin as soon as possible for you own good.

As for the calories you're not eating enough. If your body goes into what is called a starvation mode, it could retain fat because it could assume it's being starved.

Sedentary adult men need around 2,000 a day and more for exercise days would be okay, so you're undereating and it could negatively affect your goal(s).

What times do you eat at and what foods do you eat at those times?

Yea I was thinking of at least cutting the super hd into half a pill a day and see how that feels. It did help exercise energy I felt like I could go longer. Also what do u think about the vitapacks? Do I need all that stuff or is a basic multivitamin good enough?

Avg daily food is
Breakfast- 3 eggs, whole wheat toast with smart balance spread and maybe a grapefruit or yogurt.
Lunch is typically a low sodium turkey or chicken wrap or sandwhich. Maybe some low calorie soups.
Dinner is usually fish or grilled chicken with some sort of veggies.
I mix in small snacks like fruits or veggies ocasionally special k bar or granola.(usually a bananna, apple, carrots or celery).

Also I heard fish oil can be really helpful should i get some of those?

The main things to focus on are your diet and exercise. Supplement-wise you could consider things like a general multivitamin if you think this will support your diet, plus fish oil if you don't eat much oily fish. Fish oil is likely beneficial for general health, and it's anti-inflammatory so potentially good for things like joints and muscle soreness.
Supplementing the protein can be good too if you're aiming for a fairly high intake (though obviously we get this from diet too so eggs, milk, meat etc will be more than adequate). Maintaining a decent protein intake is also good for maintaining muscle mass during weight loss, in addition to resistance exercise.

Generally, if you're experiencing side effects from a supplement, probably best to stop taking it, especially if there's not much evidence to support its use (don't know about this particular one though).

I had something very similar happen to your story. It took a while for me to loose the pounds and i noticed them going faster after I started using Shakeology. That is a shake meal replacer that come in I think 4 different flavors now. Anyways it was super good and really filled me up.
