name is Jonathan. I am new to ShapeFit, and am looking forward to all the resources it has to offer. I am almost 27 years old, and I currently weigh 350 pounds. I have always been a heavy person, but the majority of weight has been gained during the past few years. At heaviest I was 392 pounds. weight has gone up and down to some degree, but now I am ready to get it down for good. I feel motivated, and have eliminated much of the temptation that hindered success in the past.
I joined 24 Hour Fitness a month ago and have been working out 6 days a week, an hour each workout. For the first 3 weeks I did mostly elliptical for the entire workout. This caused me to slightly injure knees, and forced me to find a better workout routine. I started swimming laps in the pool last week, and find it to be a great workout. I swim for about 45 minutes, but now I have heard that the pool is not considered to be a balanced workout. I understand that I should also be incorporating strength training into workouts, and plan to do so soon.
Would a weekly workout routine of 6 days of swimming and strength training every other day (3 days a week) be considered balanced? Also, how much swimming should I be doing each workout?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Jonathan
