friend is trying to lose weight
Hi guys? friend and I are trying to lose weight. friend has a problem. He want to lose weight. Right now he's 228lbs but wants to get back down to at least 215lbs. But his problem is that he eats like he's hungry. Lately, he's been eating tortilla chips which are bad for you. But sometimes more often than not, he said he find himself eating the whole bag in just one day! The snacks are really killing him. He don't eat fried foods, but eats baked and grilled foods and drinks only water. As of right now, he really do not know what to snack on. If he eat peanuts, he would find himself eating too many in a day and he finds that half of the bag is nearly gone. What is his problem? How can he conquer this eating disorder? Are there any solutions? I forgot to mention that is on prescribed medicine. Somehow could this be what is making him to eat like he's hungry?
Re: friend is trying to lose weight
This might work for him.
Breakfast
Option 1.
Bowl of Whole-grain Cereal and 1 rasher of Bacon, fat trimmed off and scrambled Eggs, (2 Egg Whites + Yolk)
Option 2.
Protein shake, small portion of Nuts, (excluding higher carb ones like Cashews, Chestnuts and Grapenuts), + Apple. Give the Apple 10-15 minutes to digest to improve digestion.
Snack
Option 1.
Portion of Turkey + Orange
Option 2.
Small Portion of Peanuts, some Chicken + Raw Carrott.
Lunch
Option 1.
Large Beef Sandwich with trimmings, I.E. Tomato, Lettuce, Cucumber etc.
Option 2.
Bowl of Chicken Soup, + Pot of yoghurt.
Snack
Option 1.
Turkey + Cashews
Option 2.
Ham + 2 large Tomatos
Dinner
Option 1.
Pork with mashed Potato.
Option 2.
Chicken and Rice
Option 3.
100g Halibut + Broccoli
Snack
Option 1.
Beans on Toast
Option 2.
Ham Sandwich, no trimmings.
Easy on the bread with both options.
He could add a few things to certain meals, like Sea Salt, Cracked Black Pepper, Parsley, Mustard, Herbs, Garlic.
As for the purported connection between his weight and medication, it is possible, as some medications have been shown to have a direct link to weight gain, depending on what they are, but he would need to consult a medical professional, to ascertain if his medication has had any such side effects and if so, whether he might be able to have another appropriate type of medication, that would not encourage adverse effects regarding his weight.

Re: friend is trying to lose weight
Hi,
Your friend's body is likely in 'starvation mode' if he is not consuming proper amounts & levels of nutrition. He is probably overfed & undernourished. If his body is depleted of one thing, it can crave a counterpart food group that satisfies that craving, but does not provide his body with the nutrition he needs as a targeted defense to changing these habits. The snacks are a quick .

Re: friend is trying to lose weight
He needs to keep the chips and unhealthy snacks out of the house so he won't be tempted. As far as over eating (healthy food included) until he is ready to make a change, he will continue on the current path that he is on.
Re: friend is trying to lose weight
I forgot to suggest taking "fiber pill" before meals to help him feel fuller after less food. I buy them at Walmart pretty cheap and they seem to work well for me.
