I know cellulite is something all women want to get rid of and worry about. I have read that it is an indicator of bad health and is very dangerous to be carrying around. I have a bit of it myself and have been trying to get rid of it since I got it in the first place; it just won't budge.
A friend of mine told me that once a person has so much subcutaneous fat, the only way to get rid of it is surgery. Is that really true? I am concerned about health, particularly heart, hormones, and blood sugar. So just how much does the presence of cellulite really mean in terms of danger to body and health? I know a fat indicates high toxin levels and danger to the liver. What do dimples on your thighs mean in terms of your heart, insulin levels, and female organs? Would just like a bodybuilder's opinion or knowledge from a fitness standpoint.
Maybe more importantly, is surgery really the only way to get rid of it? I already do lots of leg work--about 4 days a week. Squats, lunges, dealifts, side lunges, kickbacks, leg raises, calf raises, etc. Should I be trying for more cardio instead?

It is difficult to shift, but potentially gaining muscle and the fat burning effects that entails, could work as well as a reasonable amount of weekly cardio.
Surgical options might be an option, but should be necessary in many cases I wouldn't have thought.

Cellulite is not a indication of your overall health. In fact women who are bottom heavy vs top heavy have lower incidence of heart disease and better cholesterol counts because the fat sequesters in an area of lower metabolic activity. Cellulite is visible when fat accumulates over the fascial tissue in the hips and thighs. It occurs less in men for 2 reasons; 1) men have extra muscle mass, and 2) the fascia in women is honey comb shaped, in men it is not.
Your best bet is to do the exercises Boss Man recommended and follow a strict diet to lower body fat. There is an albeit new surgery that can break the honey comb fascia with a laser thus reducing cellulite, however, it is expensive and once again very new.
