Diet - What does it need?

Post by joskey17 »

I need some advice. I have never discussed anything about diet, this is very new to me. Below is a list of things I eat in a typical day. I workout about 5 days a week, lift weights (not a pro) and run on the treadmill like 3 miles a day. If you feel like reading diet plan and have any advice for changes, I would love feedback.

I'm 26M/195 lbs.

What I usually eat in a day.

Breakfast - 3 Large Eggs Scrambled, large tablespoon of mayo made with canola oil on wheat toast.
Lunch - Usually another sandwhich, which consists of wheat bread and some natural lunch meat or canned tuna fish (white albacore).
Snack - Tablespoon Peanut butter
Dinner - Skinless Chicken breast (baked) 1 white potato, some form of veggies (in a can) like canned peas, corn or green beans.
1 Scoop Whey Protein Powder after workout with 1% Milk
Snack - About 1-2 cups of Fresh Strawberries (sweetened with splenda) and a tablespoon of peanut butter

Other Dinner Meals during the week: 90% lean beef Hamburger, Pork Chops (with the same sides, like 1 potato and canned veggies)

Drink of choice: Crystal Light added to bottled water. I drink the stuff religiously. Almost every meal.

Other Snacks that are in diet:
-Popcorn popped in canola oil on the stove. I usually add some type of flavor, like "Kernel Season's Nacho Cheddar"
I can eat quite a bit of that.

-Then sometimes I have a bowl of cereal (Original Corn Flakes with Splenda & 1% Milk)

I don't eat leafy greens, salads, tomatoes or anything like that but I should.

Hey there :)

Corn is a grain and peas are legumes. Just thought you might like to know that.

I think you could add more protein to that snack with strawberries, like Ham, Chicken, Turkey etc etc.

As for the lunch, be careful of the luchmeat in case it's a bit salty as that may cause water retention and don't have too much Tuna in a week, as it's got high metals levels in it. I'd stick to current guidelines of 3 portions or less a week.
