Wolf's rebirth/New question :)

Post by Wolfen »

Hey guys! So I deleted old account. A lot has changed since last post...and I mean A LOT. former fiancée and I split up, so I kinda went down a dark, personal road that took me places I don't want to go to again (no worries, I did nothing bad :))

I'm still the same old awesome Wolfboy :D

I've been thinking of getting a juicer. Specifically the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Express. Would this be a good investment? It seems every time I buy produce, it goes bad because I just don't feel like cooking it. I believe a juicer would solve that problem seeing as how I can put in a bunch of fruits/veggies together.

I know there is a debate on how juicing will leave pulp and make you miss out on fiber and other stuff, but is that really that big of an issue? I would still eat solid fruits/veggies every day as well.

The fiber-in-the-pulp is also an issue as it's the fiber that helps you feel full. I eat fruits and veggies and take vitamins, but I also got a greens supplement that makes me feel better...like I'm getting the benefits of the veggies in case I'm not eating enough. That might be a better option if nutrition is your goal.
I wouldn't juice only fruits or only veggies. I'd mainly juice a couple veggies with a fruit or 2 to sweeten it up, and I would have the juice WITH meal which would include a salad/steamed veggie of sorts.

In no way is it a replacement of solid fruits and veggies, but just to help get all those servings into body without having to flood plate with a ton of food.

I think I'd prefer to supplement as little as possible, especially when it comes to fruits and vegetables.

And with the juicer I want, you rarely have to cut/chop anything, the pulp it catches is dry and you just throw it out.

I need to consume more calories anyway, I find it hard to find a way to get them all into body.

That's the one that I really want, but I'll settle for a different one if they have it at Sears in town. Detachable pulp collector and you can just throw it into the dishwasher.

You can throw in a whole apple or a whole peeled orange without having to cut them up.

Hi Wolf!
I actually bought the jack lalanne juicer a few years ago. I used it alot at first. It is great for a nice really fresh, wake you up kind of juice drink. fav was the apple/carrot juice. One thing I noticed is that it takes ALOT of fruit to make a few glasses of juice and it can get expensive pretty quick. But, on the other hand, at least you know it is fresh, pure and you know exactly what you are drinking.
As far as the pulp goes - you don't have to throw it away! It can be used for making breads and muffins. There are some recipes in the book that comes with it that gives suggestions for using the pulp. It does take a few minutes to clean up, but not too bad.

I liked mine - just got out of the habit of using it, started using blender more.

Good luck in your search! :D
