how to drop pounds quickly and safely?
I am in a desperate situation and am looking for some advice. I have been wanting to enlist in the military and i really need to lose the weight fast. I have quite a bit to lose and i know its not going to happen overnight, but I'm willing to give it all to get there. I started just over 2 months ago just by being more active and cutting out all junk/ fast food and drinking only water. It went great for the first few weeks! I could start to see/ feel a big difference and i lost about 15lbs after the 3-4 weeks. Since then i have only lost about 5 additional pounds (on a good weigh in) despite increasing exercise and eating less. I feel stuck. I don't have money to try all these programs, supplements, and equipment but i need some sort of regiment or plan i can stick to. If anybody has anything that may help and is safe i would love to hear about it. Thanks

Hey BB, after the 3-4 weeks, how long has it been. How long did it take to lose the extra 5. Sounds like you are doing great. About 2 lbs a week is on the high end of what you should be losing safely.

Hey thanks Scott! Well i started back in mid February and by mid March i had lost 15 lbs. it took about three to four weeks for the 5 lbs after that. Since mid February i've lost 20 lbs. and i'm still working because i've got a way to go! I am feeling much better about things now that i know 2 lbs. is a good amount. I kept getting discouraged when i would only loose a pound or two after a very hard week. I guess i was expecting too much! ha ha! Thanks again.

Glad you are feeling better! Biggest loser and shows like that make it look easy to lose 10 lbs a week. If it were that easy, we would all be lean mean fight'n machines!

If someone is really, really obese, then safe weight loss could as much as 4lbs of FAT a week, but often 3. For those with a level of obesity around 100lbs or less above target, 2lbs is what would be a good level to aim for.
Some people may find they intially lose a big amount of weight for the first 1-3 weeks, as it can be water related too. Excess water can be caused by excessive Salt intake, so it can be a case of someone losing a lot of Salt out of their diet, from dietry changes, thus facilitating the inability to maintain excess water levels, leading to a diuretic type effect.
