Hello all!
I have a goal of being able to do 1 chin-ups and 1 pullups by the end of december and at least 10 pushups in 1 rep. So far I can do 3 assisted chinups (2 red bands) and 4-5 pushups.
I have limited space and right now I can't afford a gym membership. I do have a pullup bar though. I am using the Grease the Groove training, doing as much chinups and pushups as I can everytime I go near the bar (4-5 times a day).
Here's training schedule: (GTG= Grease the Groove)
Monday: 30min jogging and GTG assisted chinups
Tuesday: GTG Pushups
Wednesday:30min jogging and GTG assisted chinups
Thursday: GTG Pushups
Friday: 30min jogging and GTG assisted chinups
Saturday: GTG Pushups
Should I keep this schedule or would you recommend putting everything together into something like this:
Monday: 30min jog, pushups and assisted chinups
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday:30min jog, pushups and assisted chinups
Thursday: Rest
Friday:30min jog, pushups and assisted chinups
I only do 30min jog one time a day :0)
Here's some vitals:
I'm 29 and I was at 275 pounds in june of 2010. Right now, I hit a plateau since october and weight is between 250-255. I achieved this by jogging 30mins 3 days a week and by changing nutrition.
Thank you
Daniel

I'm also using the GTG method and am getting some good results, goodluck!

Another question: When training to do more pushups and pullups, should you always go till failure? Or do as many as you can without muscle failure?
Re: "Greasing the groove" for pushups and chin-ups.
The idea is to do a high volume of pull ups/push ups in a day without fatiguing the muscles, so I'd just do 3/4 each session.
