New And Needing Some Help

Post by ravi_kolla »

I am 32 years old... I did good workout till Jan of this year and grown really well with the help of shapefit. com advices... But suddenly I stopped because of personal obligations... I have become weak and depressed now, with less energy to cope up... I want to start work outs again...But stamina and energy levels are not as good as they were before... Recently I tried with Pushups but unable to complete atleast 20 reps and could not continue workout for atleast 20 - 30 minutes.

Please advice me a new workout schedule on how to go ahead with it... Also guide me in food...

Thanks to all

Ravi,

I would firstly recommend working on balance. Whatever it is that is depressing you, it needs to be addressed. Body, mind and spirit are all important. Working out will help with stress and confidence, but if there are bigger issues, I would look into resolving them.

As for 20 push-ups... that's pretty good to start. I'd continue working on them gradually... every other day if that's truly a measurement of strength and progress for you.

As for diet... what is your typical daily diet like? Eating the right things should also help with energy levels.

Hi Ravi,

Well, it's kind of tough to give you a super exact regimen without knowing what things you're doing on a day to day basis. But, for starters, decreased energy levels and even depression can be caused from a variety of factors. So, make sure you are getting adequate rest, quality and quantity. Make sure you're eating foods that are rich in micro-nutrients, phyto-nurtients and fiber, as well as, good quality proteins, such as fish and chicken. For carbohydrates, don't skimp by on processed food and white grain products like white bread, white rice, plain noodles, etc. Whole grains are many times better.

Get plenty of fluids and water. Eat mostly healthy fats, like mono-unsaturated, eat very little saturated fat and no trans fats.

Get a little sunshine each day... try doing your calisthenics and muscular endurance exercises outside sometimes. Get some fresh air! I go chins at the school yard sometimes. Never stress over what you can't do. It's what you can do that matters and what you're working up to that really counts.

Don't train the same muscle groups day after day. Give them 2, 3, 4 or more days to heal. However, it's perfectly o.k. to exercise every day as long as you're rotating muscle groups. Get your breathing rate up each day. And, listen to upbeat, inspiring music when you exercise.

If you do all of these things each day, it will probably help out with energy levels quite a bit. Just stay as consistent as you can and when life gets tough, get tough right back. If you have to take a day or two off, just get right back in there after that day or two! If you stay consistent with all this for a couple months, you'll feel a whole lot better, I'd wager
