tasty and healthy things to order when eating out?

Post by fit-fanatic-2025 »

I'm going to michigan in a few weeks and family there eats out a lot. I hate ordering salads but what else do you eat that wouldn't be too unhealthy or too many calories? I can have water to drink. And i could order off the kids meals so the meals wouldn't be too big. I usually like the food in kids meals too so i don't have a problem with that. :)

Any other suggestions?

Look for Grilled Chicken dishes, or Grilled, baked, broiled fish dishes - most come with some sort of choices of steamed veggies, sweet potato, or baked potato - stay away from all the toppings that go with those, tho' :D . Or a small Lean Sirloin steak - with a side salad (ask for the dressing "on the side" and just lightly dip your bites).
The problem with kids meals in restaurants, unfortunately, is that most of them are very fatty. Like fried chicken strips, fries, mac & cheese, pizza, hot dogs - all bad, even if it is smaller portions. :|

Pork Chops and Lamb Chops too. Just trim the Fat off yourself. Can have a Bake Potato or Rice as well.

Some restuarants, provide Veg on the plate, some do it in a metal tray in a kind of pick 'n' mix style situation, which usually has things like Potato, Carrot, Broccoli, possibly Cauliflower and maybe one or two other things to choose, which is fine as well.
