I agree... Last time when I had problems... I wanted to cry but I pushed myself to run... I was too dang tired to think or to cry!!!
I felt GOOD... heck, I felt AWESOME!!! - I didn't eat junk to only regret it later...

I'm sorry to hear about your personal problems with your family. You can't change them.
You just have to be strong and take care of yourself and your future.
Don't let them stop you from your happiness... I know its easy said then done...
But if you will let it put you down and only want to eat ice cream it will only make it worse.

going to the gym tonight, I did not go to the gym yesterday.I also didn't eat a tub of ice cream. :)

I am going to work out arms and do 30 mintues of CArdio.

Went to the gym, knee was swollen and in a lot of pain when I got to the gym. Because of depression over current family drama I was feeling down and shitty. I did about 10 minutes of Warm up, went down stairs and tried to use the Triceps Cord machine. arms locked up and the pain was piercing through shoulders. I couldn't pull the cords at all and I was on 25 lbs of weight. This got me more down. I tried to use the leg press and it was very hard and made knee feel numb but under a lot of pressure which it was obviously.

Needless to say it was a bad day of working out. I ended calling mother to hash things out because really its what was getting me down, affecting mood, workout, mental state. After phone call I felt better because I told her everything I thought of her, nothing was in the dark, it was all out in the open. conscience felt cleared. Inevitably the conversation ended where I thought it might with out a resolution but at least for me I got to say what really needed to. No one is unclear about how I truly feel and they can't say they don't understand why I feel the way I do.

I really need to figure out how to best work thighs and arms. Mainly I am focused on getting to the gym when I say I am. Staying consistent, no excuses.

I haven't lost any weight. pretty frustrating, but I have been drinking 3 Qt. of water per day. Keeping meals small and often to every 3 or 4 hours.

Can you eat every 2.5-3 hours? To me, personally 4 hours is a bit long and body needs food!!

Yes me also..2 to 2.5 hours, tops 3 hours.

I measured and weighed self this morning. Bicep seems to be getting bigger, Emotional Let Down.

chest, thighs, calves, forearms, and Neck are either slightly bigger or the same. Huge! Emotional Let Down.

Waist is 2 inches smaller and hips are 1.0 in smaller. I did feel better after seeing that. But why not the rest of body. I have been working arms. I have been working thighs and calves, really hard. But NOTHING!

Lets See: I started on a Saturday, went Monday, Wed., Fri. (Met the Trainer), Went back on Monday, wed. Skipped Friday, Went on Sat. (which was yesterday)

So I guess I haven't been going long enough to get any real result. is still jiggly as ever. But more Cardio will that right?

Anyway, I'm checking in for Motivation and feedback to help state of mind about all this. I will admit that meals have been inconsistent and I started drinking again. After last night no more drinking. Feel like crap this morning. Not worth it. Failure! BUt i'm getting back on the horse.

I absolutely agree about being more focused on diet. I find myself making excuses about food. With salads i'm eating a lot. Like a whole stock in one day. Now i'm sick, Totally had a sick spell a few hours ago, Now I feel shaky and dehydrated but i don't want anything.

I've had chicken, cheese, varieties of food. I try to be moderate. I've been lazy. Distracted. I'm also only a week and a half in. I'm sure this is normal. Expecting results too soon. The Trainer told me if I work hard enough and stay focused I can see results in 4 to 8 weeks. Sounds about right. I called this thread Staying Motivated because that is what is most important for me. Not getting down on myself. Not Quitting cause its too hard. Not pigging out because I had a good workout.

I eat when I'm upset, bored, anxious. Depressed. Having friends that are reminding me to Stay strong keeps me "Motivated" I think that goes for everyone right?

You are doing GREAT. I'm proud of what you are achieving. Diet is one area to be consistent on and tweak sometimes. Cardio helps, but it isn't a cureall for weight loss problems. As for the weights, you may have gained a slight bit of muscle, or possibly a little water retention if you're Salt sensitive, or you're having your "week".

The positives are indicators ou are doing some things right, os it's little positives, but important for the process. don't let the supposed negatives get you down, focus on the positives and let the negatives be a way of identifying more areas to change, not things to beat yourself up about.

The negatives serve as a lesson to help you improve, not as a "ha you're failing", type of lesson. That just teaches you to be down on yourself for things that aren't perfect or when you slip-up.

When those things happen it's positive, because you learn where you're going wrong occasionally and then you can try to better those things.

You have good things to be proud of and i like the fact you're sticking to it pretty much and being quite consistent about things.

You make me happy for you and proud of you too.

KEEP IT UP, because you have a lot of physical potential and despite one or two minor things, you ARE doing well and you ARE seeing positives, so things for you to be proud of and smile about okay :).

Don't let anything get you down. Enjoy the positives and see other positives in the negatives yeah :).

I should mention that I have water retention in knee again, A lot more than I had before. I have buckled it at all though for several days which tells me the muscles in knee are stronger. Holding the joints together. It does feel really strange though and often if i'm sitting around and get up it feels sore and wince worthy. I need an Anti inflammatory. Researching over the counter ones.

Also I went to check if i was pregnant (as a reason for not losing much or any weight) Not Pregnant. Thank god! Though "week" may be around the corner. Another reason for retaining water like you said. I'm going to take another photo soon. See you all can see any progress.

Ha~! There's nothing *normal* about you Les...guess that's where *normalish* comes in :wink:

I agree with Les...Ib in large doses over a long period of time, especially on an empty stomach or with alcohol can be harmful. Used properly in moderation should be fine.

Don't get down on yourself Molly - it takes time. Be proud of yourself for getting into a program to be healthy and fit. Create short term attainable goals, setting yourself up for many successes..... goals that you can reach over a shorter period of time vs the ultimate goal - and don't weigh yourself or measure every day. Just try to stay focused and stop in here for the support you need. We're all rooting for you and will be here to give encouragement in your journey. :)

Got some 800 Ibuprofen and I've got leg up, It doesn't hurt at all this morning. I weighed in at 231. I know I shouldn't weigh myself But I like to see how weight fluctuates after eating certain things. I didn't eat anything yesterday and still feel mostly fine. I might have a few eggs in a little bit to get some protein. Really want toast.

I'm going to the Gym Tonight, plan is:

7 min, warm up on the bike! (because its easy on knee)

Triceps 2 sets of 15, Leg Curl 2 sets of 15, Leg Press 2 sets of 20, Any other suggestions are appreciate. I usually end up doing the same machines out of lack of knowledge about the other machines. Maybe I'll use the pre-made workouts on here. I'm taking Anthony with me today. We'll see how that goes.

Looking at the workouts, I can't help but feel nervous about looking silly doing the non-machine workouts. like with the medicine balls and Core Training, Which I understand is SO important. Looks almost like I can do a lot the core training here at home, so I guess that helps with some of the nervousness. Things for me to think about. I guess questions is how do you not feel so self conscience like everyone is staring at you at the gym?

I not sure not eating is that good an idea. Those muscles you are exercising still need nourishment. Just eat healthy and exercise and everything else will follow.

Omg too funny! Once body is in better shape I will probably stare at myself too. And so you all know, I didn't eat yesterday was because I woke up with a hang over, had breakfast and came home to puke it up. The hang over was really bad and made me ill. I couldn't eat anything. This morning and had a lovely breakfast, jalapenos, eggs, and ham.
