Lesplease wrote:Soy milk is fine, and regular milk is okay too (I'm of a different camp than Allison and Brent, with that regard), just stay away from the hormone stuff, like Brent mentioned, if you can. store brand here is actually hormone-free so I drink that when I get it at all (I go through phases).

But I actually just stick frozen fruit in shakes, with protein and water. I have one of these to blend it in. Single-serving which is kinda cool, and it's small enough for the dorm. Though keeping frozen fruit might be an issue. You can always use fresh though. Bananas are cheap (:

As far as I've seen, I think the milk here is hormone free, plus there's a grocery store a couple blocks away that has a huge organic section. Plus, milk there is cheaper anyway, so next quarter I believe that's where I'll be buying milk and much more of groceries.

Also, that cute little blender is going to be a part of life next quarter. :]
I'll use fresh fruit because I have no freezer, the freezer I have doesn't actually freeze things. :P

@ Brent :: Well, either tomorrow or Tuesday, probably tomorrow. I know we're going to go eat at Lou Malnati's (World Famous Pizzeria) So I will be cheating and having pizza simply because it's too good not to.

How bad for you are Gyros? Because I'm going to be taking family to a place called Branko's and they serve burgers, hot dogs, and gyros and I think a couple other sandwiches. On the way home it'll be much more like having to grab McDonald's and stuff and eat in the car.

As far as drinks go, I drink water, green tea, the occasional fruit juice or Green Machine Naked, and even more infrequently I'll grab a coffee drink.

If I have a choice between gross and somewhat healthy, I'll make it (except at Lou Malnati's. :P) But I'm not going to sweat diet a whole lot, I want to enjoy family.

Also, a question for thanksgiving:: Which is better for you: white or dark meat turkey?

@ Les :: The freezer in mini-fridge does not actually freeze anything... :/ So I will be getting no ice cubes. I'll try it with water first, however, I don't know if I can find greek yogurt at home, I've never seen it in grocery stores there, I saw it here in Chicago though, so I can try that once I'm back.

7:30 Wake up

7:54 (Probably not the best thing in the world, but better than pizza)
-- 3 slices turkey
-- 1 slice provolone cheese
-- 2 leafs lettuce
-- 8 fl oz Naked Green Machine [[Cal :: 140, Prot :: 2g, Fat :: 0g, Carb :: 33g, Fiber :: 0g, Sugar 28g]] (Yikes, too much sugar)

11:15 (The things in salad, measurements are obviously a guess)
-- 1/2 huge salad :: 3 c Spring Mix Greens (Wanted just spinach but they didn't have just spinach), 3/4 c broccoli, 1/2 c cucumbers, 1/4 c carrots, peppers, 1/2 c mushrooms, 2 eggs, 4.5 oz grilled chicken, 1/4 c red grapes, 1/4 c balsamic vinegar. (I love vinegar, so yeah it probably was close to a quarter cup.)
-- 20 oz Water

Naked Juice drinks are made purely from fruits and vegetables. They're all natural. But it's still a lot of sugar.

Okay guys, I'm back, after a long couple of days. It was great just relaxing and enjoying family for a while, but I'm back on track now and I'm gonna keep working towards goals.

1:23 Wake up (Yeah, really late, I was tired)

2:05
-- 3 egg whites and 1 whole egg scrambled with 2 tbs 2% milk
-- 2 tbs Catsup
-- 1/2 c Mixed Vegetables
-- 3 oz roast turkey breast (Yay, Thanksgiving leftovers)

5:00
-- Salad :: Iceberg (all we had), grilled chicken, carrots, little cheese, balsamic vinegar

8:00 Workout
-- http://www.bodyrock.tv/2010/11/19/550-rep-fat-massacre/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Did it in 24:48 Minutes, still modified the pushups and planks, did them from knees. Still thought I was going to die when I got done. I had jello for legs.
-- Stretched for ten minutes

8:45
-- 10 oz Water with 1 scoop protein powder
-- 8 oz Milk
-- 1 slice white bread
-- 1 tbs peanutbutter

P.S. I really really wish people would quit lying to me trying to feed me bull that I'm pretty. We both know that I'm not, so please stop lying to me....

No, it didn't feel good, but if it gets me results, I'll deal with it.
Also, it's extra scary when I'm trying to get a drink and I have to cling to the counter because I can't support myself with legs.

Hope you had a good time with your family Jena! That meal yesterday doesn't look like you ate a lot but maybe i'm wrong and you did sleep late so you had a shorter day. Not sure how many calories you had. I guessed about 1300??

-- 2 tbs catsup

-- 8 oz diet sparkling strawberry green tea

6:13

@ Rebekah :: No, I didn't eat a whole lot yesterday, I don't know about exactly how many calories worth since I I didn't put anything into food tracker. :/ But here at home I tend to get hungry less and since I have a father and a brother that eat like there's no tomorrow all the food is gone in no time when we go grocery shopping and mother refuses to grocery shop more often than once every three weeks.

Nice job with the food :). At least there's some decent choices in there and some semblence of a plan in place, which is part of the battle won :).

Tilapia is also a low Mercury Fish as well.

If you never read post on Carrots, try blending them up first in a blender, then boiling them, as you get more Beta-carotene release that way. It's been properly proven too :).

Thanks.

Blend carrots?? But but but . . . I love their crunchy amazingness. :[ I'm fine with getting a little less beta-carotene.

Fair enough. Just a suggestion after all :).

Boiling still release more of it then eating them raw anyway, so you'll be releasing about 60% Beta-carotene, by boiling as oppoosed to 30% eating Raw and 90% boiling and blending.

You'll get enough Beta-carotene from the boiled Carrot anyway, so don't sweat it, I wasn't trying to make things more complicated for you :).
