Had a nice Thanksgiving holiday - did good on the food temptations. Only succumbed once to an Oreo cookie chocolate pudding pie  but OMGee!! a girl can only be so strong!!

Something really nice happened at the family get together. I had just walked in and 22 yr old nephew saw me and said "wow, you look really healthy!" Now that felt good! He came over and and gave me a hug (he has never hugged me before) & asked me what was I doing. I told him just eating healthy, working out, and training for a 1/2 marathon. He said he really wants to "get back" into working out, I told him it just takes that first step out the door - after that the rest is easy... :D
Then brother-in-law says to me "I just wanted to tell you that you have inspired me" He is overweight and a few years ago was in really bad health (he is younger than me), but he has quit smoking and has started riding his bike everyday. He has lost 23 lbs. He said he would eventually like to add walking then running - and i said that was awesome!!
Reminded me that people really do notice and even tho' I may not realize it, even someone like me can be a positive influence on someone, enough to challenge them to make changes in their own life.
Makes it all even more worth it.

Ran 7 miles on the beach Saturday - felt awesome!

Got up this morning and did a bw workout:
2 x 12 standard pushups
2 x 12 x 2 step ups
2 x 25 crunch
2 x 12 leg lifts
2 x 12 dips
2 x 12 burpees
2 x 12 squats
Planning on running later this evening.

What nice compliments to hear Lynne. :) I know i've been doing okay with cheats here and there and of course really badly the past weekend but you are motivational to really kick it up a notch. :) The funny thing is i don't even really enjoy the unhealthy food that much, its good but I enjoy a lot of the food that is healthy just as much and i feel better when i just stick to the plan. You are doing superb and are definitely motivational, glad you had a nice thanksgiving. :)

Thanks guys! I have begun to realize that its not always the end result that motivates people, but the journey they are witness to, day in and day out. Never giving up, always setting a new goal, just working hard, everyday. :D

Finished the day up with a 2 mile treadmill run, moderate pace.
Got another 5K race this weekend - excited!! :D

girl, I've got 3 races this month!! :D :D 1st two weekends and the last weekend! woo hoo!!!

Ran 3 miles on lunch hour today - weather was perfect. Felt great! Could not wait all morning for lunch to come so i could get out there and enjoy the weather.

Did I tell y'all that I am now "headphone, music free" when I run? I stopped wearing ipod when I run. It is really freeing! One of last races I had a problem with ipod, cost me some time fiddling with it, ended up dropping it during the race - gah!! I said "no more!" And have not regretted it. Thought I would never be saying that. 8)

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with onion, green bell pepper, fresh spinach, & smoked turkey breast
Lunch: 1 small sweet potato w/1tbsp. 2% greek yogurt, and portion of grilled chicken breast strips. 2 oz. greek yogurt with strawberry topping - yum.
Dinner: not sure yet.

That's how I roll.

Today's workout:
3.5 mile hilly speed run.
Ran with 2 friends, pace kept getting faster and faster - definitely challenged me tonight, but happy to say I was able to hang with 'em and even finished strong! :D

friend who is helping to pace me on training runs is injured and unable to run with me or be with me on training runs, so she offered to let me borrow her GPS Garmin Forerunner 205 running watch. OMGeeeee  I am in love with this watch, and must have one now for own. It keeps up with your mileage as you run, beeps on every mile, tells you your current pace and/or average pace. Absolutely freakin' awesome - a runner's dream. 8) I....willl.....have.....one. They are a expensive ($125+), but maybe if I ask Santa real, real nice, I may be able to get one for Christmas.

You've been training really hard and doing so well! Nice you have those friends to train with to keep pushing you.

Good luck on your 5k!!! Maybe your results on the scale will help with your results in the race. I'm sure your training will help! Either way Have Fun and kick some you know what.

Those Garmin's do sound very nice to have. Hopefully for xmas like you said!

Thanks Becky! Had a good race. :D Fastest time I've had in 3 yrs.! 26 seconds faster than the last race. Steadily and surely bringing it down. I'm sure the weight loss helps, I read somewhere once that for every 1lb. you lose you can cut 6 seconds off your mile times. Still have a way to go, but I'm getting closer everyday!!

Yeah but just think when you lose those 10 pounds. You may even be faster! :D
