Woo Hoo, had a great race today! I didn't place, but was in the top 25 out of 154 women! Shaved about 1 minute off last 5K time, so that is an improvement.
Had one person who hasn't seen me since the last race which was in Sept., say I have really dropped some pounds, that was nice :D , and I told him thank you and you are now best friend. I may have even told him I loved him, idk, I was so happy! lolol
Now setting sights on a race the 1st weekend of December - hope to take another minute off time and get in medal territory!! I'm so close!

I have to correct myself. Race results show that i was 31st out of 154 women (all age groups included) and 5th out of 27 women in age group (40-49). 86th person to cross the finish line out of 236 runners ( and female, all age groups).
I lost the race in the 2nd mile, I ran it 45 seconds slower than the first mile, and the last mile I picked up pace to 27 seconds off the 1st mile pace, but it was not enough to close the gap between me and closest competition. If I could have held 1st mile pace throughout the race I would have won 2nd in age. So..I just have to work harder. :D

You did a great job running and doing what you enjoy! So, have fun and now it’s time for you to get pampered. Next month, is the next race already?

Yep! 1st weekend in December, another 5K, then another one the following weekend. Then it will be time to focus on longer distance, and get ready for a 1/2 marathon in February.

today is 2 a day workouts

EArly a.m. - 2 mile street run. Really struggled, feet felt like lead. Just one of those type of runs....they can't all be spectacular, but I started feeling better towards the end...of course, I didn't have any more time to run!

Evening workout: 5th week of R.I.P.P.E.D. class at gym. I can't say enough how much I'm loving doing this class. It is torture, but I keep wanting more and more of it! lol It helps me get a good workout, while working out alot of stress and worry. :D

Today's meals:
B: 1 apple w/all natural pb
L: grilled chicken breast w/ medium size sweet potato, topped with 2 tbsp plain LF greek yogurt
snack: 1 small apple OR bag of popcorn (I know which one is better for me  )
post workout: protein shake
snack if hungry: veggies (raw carrots, broccoli, celery) w/dip
D: steamed broccoli & tilapia.

One funny thing that happened yesterday...
I was cooking dinner and son comes up to me and says "close your eyes and open your mouth"...so, I (with great hesitation) comply with his wish, not knowing what he might do (he's been known to pair the oddest sorts of foods together) I braced myself - and at first I grimace..what on earth is this? Then slowly, taste buds awaken and I come to the blissful realization that I have a small Reeses PB cup resting in mouth....as the chocolate melts a bit, knees begin to weaken - oh the joy! The blissful chocolaty joy! I take a small bite and remove the rest, lovingly laying it down on a paper towel, as I savor the tiny morsel, letting it melt down to the peanut butter goodness - I thought I would cry...lol!! It was SO good, I have definitely been chocolate deprived, I enjoyed every last bite (I divided it into 3 bites).
Meanwhile son is like "geez mom, it's just a peanut butter cup..."

The response could have been, yes but it's something that can help to create a slippery slope to obesity and I'm not a massive fan of slopes, especially not the slippery kind

LOL... you sound like you needed that... Just a little reward...

By the way, apple and peanut butter is your breakfast? Nothing else or anything in between lunch?

I get up at 5:30 and make a tall glass of iced green tea, that wakes me up. I am on second one by the time i get to work at 8:30. If I run or workout before work, I will drink a protein shake, or a glass of choc. soymilk, maybe half a banana afterwards. But if I don't run or workout before work then I don't eat until about 9:30 or 10. I'll eat an apple w/pb, or a greek yogurt w/fruit. Then I eat lunch at 12:00. :D

I need to have more fruits and veggies in diet.
I like to steam and sometimes baked sweet potatoes with salt & peppers… So yummy!
