I have been doing the pyramid sets for about 4-5 months now, I usually do 3 x 8-10.
Yesterday I was told by a friend of mine that it would be good to switch routine and start what he called "foundation work".
What he suggested was that I do 3-4 x 15 for about 3 weeks, then increase the weight and do3-4x12 and then increase the weight and do 3-4x10 and so on until I get to 5x5.
This would be going on for about 3 months and then I will go back to the routine I am currently at (pyramid sets).
I am worried that I might lose strength in this process, is that true?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
if you've just come off 3 x 10 than going to 3 x 15 is going backwards...simply going to 4 x 6 - 8 for most exercises will do the most for you...go heavier not lighter
Ok, I will increase the weight and I will try to get 3x6-8.
I kind of thought that me doing 3x15 lighter weight was going to make me lose strenth but I needed to ask someone who knows more than I do.
I have also been doing pyramid sets for few months now, should I keep on doing that or switch routine a little bit.
What do you think will work best?
I am not trying to get huge, comfort area would be around 170-175 lbs.
I know I need to change routine for sure but I am not sure what to do, and what to change.
change exercises a little (flat bench press to incline press, medium stance squat to wide stance squat, close grip row to wide grip rpw etc) and just go to 3 x 6 - 8...that's all you need to do really
