Your husband has not adopted a bit of a Shallow Hal method of looking at you has he? As he says you're skinny, but you probably don't feel too skinny at 160lbs, though your physical achievements to date, cannot be adjudged in any other ways than praiseworthy ones :).

I think he notices how hard I'm working at losing weight, and he knows how hard it has been for me, so when he notices, even the slightest change, or loss, he compliments me. He is so sweet, and tells me a daily basis that I look pretty. After 15 years of marriage, it stills feels nice to hear. 8)
I definitely don't feel skinny, but I do feel better about body, and the changes it is showing however slight they may be.
But I'm more proud of what I am able to do physically. The strength I have, and the endurance I have now is better than it has been in 10 years.

Todays workout:

10.5 mile road run.  40 degrees this morning! woo hoo! Felt great for 8 miles, last 2.5 were like torture, ran on pure willpower and guts alone. Legs were numb, they just kept plugging along, well versed in their job. But, I ran the 8 miles more than 8 minutes faster than last week! that is 1 minute per mile faster pace overall. Progress baby!!!

Hey Lynne. I think i read once where you said you had plantar fasciitis?? Would you suggest any tips for me? I don't know for sure if i have it but i think i may, ache isin't real painful though it's more like a slight throbbing in the heel when i workout out or walk too long or stand too long. Thanks for any info!

It is one of the most difficult injuries to get over, because you really can't stay off of your feet 24 hrs. a day. But what you can do is modify your workouts, put gel heel inserts in your shoes. When I had it, I wore running shoes with inserts in them ALL THE TIME, all day, even when i was at home, right up until I went to bed, no sandals, no street shoes, minimal barefoot walking. Stretching and icing are very important.
Stretch 1: sit on floor with legs straight, bend one leg up at the knee. Use a belt or rope, and place the middle section of it over the foot of your straightened leg, just under the toes, then holding both ends, gently pull back towards you & hold for 5 to 10 seconds, repeat 10 times.
Slow controlled squats: Slowly squat, holding on to a table or counter edge, keeping heels firmly planted on the floor, hold for 10 seconds, then back up - repeat several times.
Wall stretch: Place one leg back behind the other leg. Keep the back knee straight with the heel on the ground while bending the front knee. Leaning forward. Again, after 10 seconds, straighten up and relax. Repeat 10 or more times with both legs.
Massage the underfoot arch. You can freeze a bottle of water, then take it and stand up, put it under your foot and press down on it with your foot and roll it back and forth several times.
Hope these help!

I'm really sore after that 10.5 mile run. legs hurt. Guess running it at a faster pace really worked legs. They feel like they did after I ran a half marathon race. Right after I got home, son called me, he had stayed over at a friends house over night - he was feeling sick, so I had to hurry, clean up, change clothes and go get him - I didn't get to stretch like I wanted, or eat anything - so no postworkout protein. Got him home and the first thing he did was walk in the door and throw up all over the floor. So spent the next hour taking care of him, getting him to bed, cleaning up the floor - blaaaaccchhh - no appetite now for sure! Didn't eat anything until 3 hours after run - and I'm paying for it now. :x

Thanks Joc! I am secretly very pleased that I was able to do 10 miles. I surprised myself. :) I haven't ran that kind of distance in a long time and it gives me confidence that i will be able to handle the 1/2 marathon in February that I plan on running. I've got over 3 months to train for it and I'm already at 10 miles! time was 1:52 for 10 miles, which i didn't think was too bad, since it was the 1st time I attempted it, and i took a few small walk breaks - but at that pace I could finish the 1/2 marathon in under 2:30. I want to finish around 2:20 or 2:15 minutes. That's the goal. :D

Today's workout:
2 mile easy run
1 hr. killer RIPPED workout

Today's meals:
Breakfast: 1 apple w/2 tbsp. greek LF yogurt w/2 tbsp. pb
Lunch: can of tuna, 4 oz. LF cottage cheese & 1/2 avocado
pre workout: half banana, gu gel
post workout: protein shake (Lean body for Her)
dinner: Oven baked Salmon & 1/2 sweet potato OR reg. potato w/ 1 tbsp Greek yogurt

I don't know if you would want too but you could run a half and at the same time train for a marathon later in the spring? I know you've said you've always wanted to complete one. 10.5 miles is almost halfway.

you read mind.. :D ..there is a marathon in April just before 50th birthday that I am thinking about. The Feb. 1/2 marathon would be a good building block to go from. Several of running friends are really encouraging me to go for it, and they would help me train. I just can't imagine it...26.2 miles! But it would be a notch in lifetime running belt. One that has long alluded me.

Tonights RIPPED class just about killed me. It was awesome!!!! The mountain climbers and pushup to plank felt a tad easier this week - that 's progress I guess, but unfortunately old elbow injury is flaring up, it's pretty sore. Oh well..comes with the territory..

meals were a little off - didn't have the 1/2 banana before workout, I had it after the workout instead, no protein shake.

It sounds like it would perfect timing to go for it! You are running long distances already and it's over the winter so not muggy and hot to train. Not to mention you have friends that would help you trian. Like mom loves to say, no time like the present! Besides i would love to read about it!! :D

Hope your elbow feels better!

that's true...if I wait til spring to train it will be thru the summer months. I'm still thinking about it. But like the poster on the wall in front of treadmill says.."Success doesn't come to you...you go to it!"

Pulled a pair of jeans from the closet this morning that I haven't worn in a few years...pulled 'em on - they fit good, so I wore them. Looked at the tag hoping it would say size 11, and much to shock and obvious glee it said 9/10!!!! That's has a single digit in it people!! 8) woo hoo!

Today's workout:
3 mile tempo run or hill sprints - haven't decided yet. Race is this saturday!!!!
Todays meals:
Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1 slice bacon
Lunch: 6 oz. lean beef brisket, 1 small sweet potato topped with 1 tbsp. LF greek yogurt.
Snack: 1 apple w/2 tbsp all nat. PB
Post workout: 1/2 banana, protein shake
Dinner: grilled tilapia, steamed zucchini
Snack (if hungry) - 2 oz. greek yogurt w/ 1 tsp honey or 1 tsp. PB or both....
