pre and post workout food

any pointers on what food too eat before/after a work out(weights) and what times to consume them
i dont want to use supplements so is there any smoothies or shakes i could make up?

why not any supplements? i don't class protein powder as a supp and that's all i use...you won't another protein that goes into the bloodstream as quick which is exactly what you need straight training

dont realy know a lot about them realy and was thinking once you start on them you have to keep having them to stay the same
what happens when you stop taking them later on

i have seen this one below which works out cheap

250ml semi skimmed milk
35grms skimmed milk powder
30grms oats
360 cals,24grms ptotein,50grms carbs,30grms oats
anygood?

protein powder isn't like that at all you may be thinking about creatine, roids etc...get some powder definately...not sure if oats are fast, med or slow releasing carbs (med i think) but you want fast releasing carb cals after training as well as fast protein...i usually have 30g whey isolate in water and then a bowl of rice bubbles with about 300ml milk and 1tbsp of sugar
