Beer

Post by Joe-Weeder »

I am a beer drinker. Most of the time I just have 2 -12oz bottles.

question is...is it okay to drink beer say 3 hours after a workout?

I started drinking a protein shake after weight lifting and am gettting excellent results. I just don't want to put too much stress on metabolism since I know body is trying to recover from the workout.

No it's never okay to drink Beer.

Sorry to say that, but it's a straight up fact.

1. it dehydrates you.

2. It can help you gain weight, because the Alcohol Sugars aren't healthy.

3. THe Alcohol Sugars could potentially mess about with your Bloodsugar levels, potentially leading to Diabetes long term. That depends though on the frequency and levels of consumption.

Not to ciriticise, but there's a potential juxtaposition there, of whether say 2 beers 3x a week, would be worse than say 6 once a week, bearing in mind, if 6 caused mild damage, could the Liver get over it within 7 days?

Interestingly enough though, someone could hammer their Liver, almost to the point of no return, for about 15-20 years, and if they completely abstained for another 15-20 years, the Liver could often repair 100%.

I think it takes roughly as long, (with total abstinence), for the Liver to heal from long term alcohol abuse, as it does to cause the abuse.

It's possibly the only Internal Organ, capable of such complete restoration, after multiple years of abuse.

Though such restoration isn't always possible, I'm pretty sure of that, sometimes you might only get 90% or 80% or less.
