Egg white? Egg yellow?

Post by Natan »

 I notice that lots of people talk about eating egg whites...is it bcos the yellow is not too good for you?...does it justify separaing the both?,,like how do you do a pankake without egg yellow?..

Crack an Egg slightly, let the White leak out, and then bin the Yolk.

The Yolk has vitamins and minerals, and Yolk is a good Carotenoid source, (Lutein), so it's beneifcial for eyesight, and has Protein too, but of course Yolks contain HDL cholesterol, the bad kind, so limit to 1 Yolk a day, 2 max.

You just have to limit Yolks, but you don't have to eradicate them altogether.

I read somewhere that you should eat AT MOST 4 egg yolks per week.
So one or two a day might be too much.

Egg yolks do contain something called biotin, which apparently is good for things like hair and nail growth. Egg yolks are the only known food that pack so much biotin.

So I guess egg yolks are a necessary evil, but you should limited them.

Yes I recall Biotin, I've heard of it, and yes your description sounds familiar .

Yes Egg Yolks also contain Lutein, a very good Carotenoid source which helps with the Eyes, not to mention things like Protein and Vitamins / Minerals, but there is LDL bad cholesterol in them, so limitation is a good policy.

I don't know about the 4 yolks a week thing, I generally have about 6 a week tops, but I am not certain exactly of a healthy maximum limit. That's why though I would heed caution. If someone attempts two Yolks a day, perhaps only 3 times a week, or one day only, but perhaps every day could be okay, with a one a day strategy.

I have been eating at least 2 egg yellows a day (sometimes 4 or 5) every single day as far back as I can remember (I love eggs) ...I will reduce to one egg yellow a day.

Thanks a lot
