Starting out on weight loss journey

Post by reverendpoet »

*sigh* but do I HAVE to post a picture? Eeeek!

Ok... I'm currently 5'10" and 170-175, I used to be 140 however I gained an incredible amount of weight because of hypothroidism. I gained all this weight in a matter of months too. I'm a pretty active person, I exercise every other day, I eat VERY healthy, and have never had weight trouble up until recent. I've just been placed on medication to treat it and I've decided I'm just going to go for it and get back to where I used to be. I used to be so proud of body too, I miss that feeling so much. So here's NOW pictures, will update as I go!

here's me now, currently a size 12 to 14, and of course emphasis on the problem area, tummy (it is so stubborn!!!)

and a picture of when I used to be 140 and a size 8 (notice how I actually used to have a flat stomach and some muscles, this is goal)

I applaud you for what you want to achieve. You know someone of your age could start going down the wrong path(s), but you have chosen a path of physical endeavour and improvement, which is better for the rest of your life and you should be so proud of your choices but also for your frank, honest and in some ways beautiful admissions about yourself. I fully appreciate it can be hard for someone to admit publicly, they have a condition, when it's not something apparent, or it may be something they find difficult to discuss, so you have fullest respect for everything you have said here :).

I know it will to some extent be made harder by the Hypothyroidism and the potential side effects of using medication to treat the condition.

You are not the first person on here who has attempted to acheive better physical wellbeing with a Thyroid condition, so I can tell you from observations, it can potentially be quite a bit trickier than just trying to achieve ballpark calorie totals per day and sticking to sensible choices of food where possible and certain types of exercise.

As long as you keep believing though and are not hard on yourself whne you do "human" things and occasionally slip up, you'll be fine and I really wish you so much luck, because I think life has given you a bit of a bum deal in some respects and I think you're the sort of person who deserves some luck and a lot of happiness, so if there is anything at all we can do for you, please just ask and don't apologise for it okay :).

GOOD LUCK to you and very, very best wishes.

:) :)

Hello! After I gave birth to first baby, I have been an increase of 9=9.67 Kg of weight and then husband shouted at me since he likes slim body. Then I decided to start a weight loss journey so called, but doctor told me that setting a goal like “lose 100 pounds in 6 months” or something similar is setting yourself up for failure. While you may or may not hit that goal, you need have smaller, quickly attainable goals to keep you motivated. Moreover, husband brought some kind of whey protein diet plan for me to decrease weight.
