Splenda?

Post by XQH000AD0001 »

It's been out for at least 5 years already. It seems quite unpopular. Sodas seem to favor Equal and you hardly see Splenda packets at restaurants (only Panera offers it, that I've ever seen).

Is it harmful eventually? Has there been any studies? I heard that it's bad because it's made from chlorine. I also heard that it can actually make you fat somehow.

I use it just because it's made from sugar, as 0 calories, and it's pretty good. Anyone know anything about Splenda?

No Splenda for Me!

Post by urbancrunch »

Hello,

I'm not an expert on Splenda and other artificial sweeteners, but you have to assume that anything manipulated in a lab will have negatives. Personally, I like the taste of Splenda, but even half a packet gives me terrible stomach cramps. I know of several people that have the same problem. This just reenforces the fact that even if there is sugar in it, it still is not natural. Hence, the stomach cramps.

This website is a good resource for health and nutrition info that the various industries try to keep quiet: http://www.newstarget.com/aspartame.html

Aspartame is a combination of two Amino Acids, one being Phenylalanine, the other Aspartic Acid, and also a Methanol.

It isn't Splenda.

I know aspartame isn't the same as Splenda, but since Equal was mentioned (sodas) I figured the site would be useful.
