Barely 16, Programmer, Would like to have a neat body.

Post by NorthMcCormick »

I am almost 16 years old (about two months away) and I am ready to start working on body appearance. I am a programmer/website designer/pianist. As you can see I live a very sedentary life, though, I am right on target weight. I am 5'4" and would like to have a nice body. I love to wear vnecks, but recently I have felt a bit uncomfortable because of lack of muscle. I figured, why not try and gain some? But I didn't want to start off and do it all wrong, so I'm asking you guys. I have lots of time on hands, but have made time in the mornings to work out.

Because I'm so new to this, I would like to have some exact weight measurements, or equivalents with things in the house. I can't go out to a gym, and I don't have any professional equipment. So I guess, I need a plan, a basic diet that I can follow, and tips. I hope this isn't too much, but I really don't quite have a clue what I'm doing, and I am completely ready and motivated to do this. I have started waking up an hour earlier (also going to bed a bit earlier as well) so that I can be ready to work out for around 45 minutes in the morning.

I really want to do this, and have all the motivation and know I can do it. Thanks for reading, I can't wait to hear some of the replies.

P.S.

I don't want a ripped body, I am looking into something like this: Image . I understand that the abs take a diet to get since it isn't the muscle problem but the fat in front of it, but all tips are appreciated.

Um, first off what is your weight? Are you on a leaner or heavier side? What kind of build is your body?

If your slender and 5' 4 I'd recommend eating alot of carbs and protein and heavier weight-lifting with medium reps, idk what you have at home, but 2 dumbells with weights up to 25 lb would work nicely

Curling - work up to 25 lbs and do 12 reps with 3 sets or 3 reps and 12 sets, stand up while your doing these curls and do them one arm at a time, keep your repitions slow and steady. It will build up your muscle in no time. these will work your triceps

Push-ups - I've found that doing less push-ups slower works alot better than half-hearted faster ones. Start off with 12 push-ups, touch the ground with your chest, then repeat slowly. again 12 reps and 3 sets. these will work your chest

Push-downs - find a good bed post and place your hands behind your back, push your body up then down 12 reps / 3 sets. this will work your biceps

Shoulder press - sit down in a chair and raise your dumbells above your head and slowly lift up then down, like your incline bench pressing. once again 12 reps / sets. this will obviously work your shoulders

Sit-ups - the classic ab-exercise. do as many as you can without passing out, but do them right and slowly. Everything is better with 8-12 reps and slow!

A gym/YMCA is IDEAL it motivates and encourages you each week! I suggest you also find a friend to work-out with to challenge each-other (make sure he is on the same level as you) if 20-25 lbs is too much at first, don't cheat the reps, just work your way up to the weight. Good luck, any questions just respond
