Thanks guys! It feels good. Really think the weight workouts combined with cardio intervals are really kicking it into high gear!
Hi Bonnie!! Thanks for stopping by! Good to see you! If you have a look at weight workouts, I'd welcome any helpful hints you might have. :D I like your new profile pics you've added - really shows the changes you've made. :D

They seem okay. I only looked at the last one. I did notice the legs are missing ?

Was a trainer on the other forum who said people who don't train their legs are missing out on the substantial hormones released by the larger muscle groups. I don't recall books saying anything about hormones, so can't comment on the theory.

That being said I really don't know much about periodization for a triathalon ( sequence of training methods/segments for optimum results ) You could google the tips for training for one ?

Yes I have achieved 150 % of the goals I set for myself 2 yrs ago, still working for more. Quite happy with the outcome & thanks :)

yeah, I haven't yet added much leg work to weight workouts since I have been combining elliptical or running in the same workout - usually cardio first, although I read where most everyone suggest doing weights first. I would like to try doing weights first, adding in some lunges, step ups and squats - then do elliptical work last - see how that feels.

Great idea. I haven't thought of that. Just been trying to balance schedule to fit in 3 sports - it's tough! I think riding bike during the workweek on lunch hour and saving gym & swim workouts for after work or before work is working best. Then a long bike ride on weekends, and one "mini gym triathlon" on Sunday (lap swim, stationary bike, elliptical "run" or upstairs track). It's all trial and error right now, til I see what fits best. :D

Planning on a long bike ride tomorrow a.m. - 15+ miles w/hills  8)

hope everyone has a happy, healthy weekend!! Incinerate some fat cells!!

Well, the bike ride didn't happen today....as Allison says "life happens"
It was replaced with watching a movie with son, playing with him, then 3 hours of much neglected housework, then grocery shopping.
I'm exhausted!
maybe tomorrow. :D

I know how you feel, exercise didn't happen either today. It's freezing outside today and I didn't make it to the gym. Life does happen. :)

It was THAT kind of day today Lynne - you would think Winter was back - we've had some real "teaser" days and today was freezing!! I want summer!!! Yep - life happens, there's tomorrow. BTW - 3 hours of housework is nothing to sneeze at! Sounds like a workout to me!

Finally got that bike ride in today.

Rode racing bike 15 miles, hilly route with 25 mph winds! There were times when I felt like I was hardly moving even tho' I was peddling as hard as I could. Great workout! Afterwards, got in the pool and cooled off and swam a bit. Feel really good knowing I can easily do the bike distance of the triathlon (12 miles) and I still have 3 weeks to get stronger and faster. :D

Hills are tough enough - add that wind in and it can be absolutely brutal - great job :D I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can get on bike again! We had 80 degrees last Sunday and then Saturday morning we woke up to the ground completely covered in snow - LOL! That's Wisconsin for ya

Congrats on the bike ride Lynne! Sounds like fun if you forget the wind factor. :D I think it is fun to do all 3 sports. I'm excited for the tri for you. Are you going to wear a wet suit for it? I haven't biked over 10 miles since i was probably 17 years old. I would like to get bike out myself this spring or summer too.

Joceyln i agree on the weather. It's below normal right now and it sucks!! I hear Easter is going to be nice though.

Nice Pic Lynne!
