Cooties??? LOL I kinda like testosterone ;)

Go to Youtube - they have some good videos on proper form for dead lifts....also if I remember correctly I received lots of advice early on here from Swanso.....but be careful, don't push it....remember I got so excited at 150 lbs that I allowed core to relax and hurt myself :(

OMG it felt so good to be out on the road again, wind blowing against me. Didn't try to push too hard, just getting used to the feel of the bike again and using clip in bike shoes. Clip on, clip off.
Great idea, the weather is now getting to the point where a bike ride sounds real good! Not sure if I mentioned we are selling our camper so we'll be home more, which will allow us to bike ride more - really looking forward to it.
fitoverforty wrote:May get a good gym workout in later this afternoon - I;m lovin' the upper body workouts!!!
You go girl! Bike ride AND the gym? Woo hoo! Gotta love those upper body workouts - I'm missing them, but until arm/shoulder is better (almost there) I 'm taking it easy.

Sounds like you'll be building some muscle here...giving me an edge in the competition

Well, I do too...but what I meant was I don't want to sprout chest hairs from all the hormones floating around in the men's weight room. I swear when I go in there voice automatically gets lower and I have this strange urge to scratch....  you get the picture...LOL

Today's workout:

First day to swim laps at the gym pool! :P
The pool is an Olympic JR. size which means one length is 25 yards. I always count one lap as one up & back completed lap (50 yards). Today I swam freestyle and did 5 up & back laps (250 yards). I timed a few of the 25 yrd lengths - best time was 23 seconds.
The swim distance of the triathlon I'm doing is 400 meters.
Came home and ran 1.6 miles treadmill. It's first run of any length since hammie injury. I did fine up until I started into the second mile. I could feel the back of leg tensing up and feeling sore, so I stopped. But at least I am making progress.

Give it the time it needs....you don't want to injure it further. That's why I go steady and strong instead of intervals/sprints these days on the treadmill. We need you healthy :D

Thanks Lu, I hope it gets well soon - I don't have alot of patience for injuries!

Todays workout:

20 minute freestyle lap swim - really a great workout. I estimate I did about 15 laps, total of 750 yards.

Elliptical interval workout - 30 minutes. Incline level 12, resistance level 5. Intervals for 20 of those minutes 1 min. fast / 1 min. slow
total miles 3.35

Honestly, I wonder if I need upper body workouts on the days i swim. entire upper body is getting a resistance workout. I didn't have it in me to do weights after I swam.

Tomorrow is biking at lunch time and weights after work. :D

Great lunch time road bike ride.

Rode approx. 40 minutes, for about 8.5 miles. Very windy today - made for a good workout. :D

After work - gym weights and elliptical.

I'm beginning to see more defined leg muscle in legs - yay! must be burning some fat off of them.

will post gym workout later.

lol! that's what I'm hoping for !!!
Training for a triathlon is alot more intense. Devoting time for 3 events is hard to do. But I love it because it forces me to work hard. You can't just go out and half-a$$ a triathlon, you've got to train for it - so it challenges me and I really like that.

Todays' afternoon gym workout:

30 minutes elliptical - steady pace, keeping above 170 strides per minutes, level 12, resistance 5 / 3.1 miles

2 x 10 @ 60lbs Bench press
1 x 8 @ 70 lbs bench press

2 x 10 x 50lbs. semi-supinated close grip rows
2 x 10 stability ball pushups w/knee tuck

2 x 10 x 15 lb bent DB rows
2 x 10 x 15 lb hammer curls
2 x 10 x 20 lb military press

2 x 10 x 70lb machine crunch

I'm pretty tired after the triple workout today (bike, ellliptical, weights) but it's a good kind of tired. :D

Well, I was sorry to see Paul go tonight on Idol. I'll miss his quirky cuteness and million watt smile.
