Feeling bad a few hours after stationary bike

Post by dchfyzw »

Usually 30 minutes at max. machine resistance on stationary bike. Work out first thing in the morning before breakfast after choking down lots of water.

Was doing 6 days/week but reduced to three. Three other days are for 30 minutes on dumbbell weights and stretches on diff. muscle systems, other day to rest.

On weights/stretches day I feel good, but on cardio days I will start having weird chest discomfort and dizzy spells a few hours after working out, including feeling like I will die or pass out. The chest discomfort takes about a day to go away completely. It can get really bad right before I need to urinate.

Not diabetic, normal blood pressure, have had EKG done and it came back normal. Do not smoke or drink alcohol.

Not asking for a diagnosis or any detailed medical opinions but... do other people have this set of symptoms?

This is making me really hate doing cardio.

Perhaps you need to increase Carb intake after workouts, or possibly before workouts, so you have fuel to use for exercsie, or fuel after exercise to increase blood Sugar back up and increase Muscle Glycogen back up.

Maybe try the elliptical instead as it allows for more body movement and the bike suppresses blood flow from the movement while sitting in one position.

Could be an issue with carbs. When is your last meal the night before? You may be depleting yourself too far.

That concerns me. Are you drinking enough water on cardio days?

Like, Scott, a carb issue came to mind as well. Try having some fruit with protein shake before and after the cardio workout, small amounts of each. Also, try using lots of cinnamon in your meals or shakes, as it naturally can help regulate blood sugar levels.
