Weekend Woas
Hi all, How do you deal with the weekend? I am doing well with meal plan during the week, but come the weekend... First it's a cheat meal, then it turns into a cheat day and the next thing it's Monday and I've gained not lost weight.
How do you keep on track during the weekends?

Re: Weekend Woas
Actually.. weekend WHOA'S would be the answer to the question. I have to tell myself "whoa" lots of times on the weekend.
the "cheat meal" is notorious for causing the "cheat day" and then the inevitable "cheat weekend" and you start off Monday morning feeling miserable and mad at yourself for getting so off track. It is an easy trap to fall in to. I've fallen many times.
As Amatlack said - preplanning is best and just choosing to be more disciplined - it is hard, no lie there, and takes practice.
It is SO easy to think after having that cheat meal that now that you have blown it for the day, might as well have that piece of cake or pie, or bag of chips, whatever your weakness is.
In those moments try to remember that is really is YOUR choice, you do have the power to choose a healthy option instead of the unhealthy option. And everytime you do, it is empowering - that is what I am learning. I always feel better when I get past that moment of weakness and resist the unhealthy temptation.
One thing I have read on these forums that really made me think is that for some reason we all get brainwashed into thinking that the "unhealthy" food is a reward or a good thing to do for our bodies after working so hard all week and eating healthy. Think about it...we reward our now healthier, more fit bodies with a bunch of junk food - why is that?
Try to think of it from that perspective.
Don't beat yourself up over it - just try to be more aware of what you give your body for fuel, and go from there.

Is it we think of it as reward or does it frankly just taste better? Unhealthy food tastes better, to me at least. Honestly, I feel deprived when I'm eating all healthy.

I wish i could believe you Allison, but honestly I don't. There are healthy foods that taste good I know, "but" a lot don't too. I've tried recipies here and there and none were that great. I can't afford to throw away food.
I will admit I'm not the best cook in the world either though. And i realy need easy to make recipes.
I will say though that I really don't eat meat anymore. And I use to have a MCdonalds burger every once in while, no fries and since i read more about what's in the meat, and how animals are treated, it grosses me out to eat a burger at mcdonalds now. So is that progress maybe. I still eat unheatlhy a lot though just not any meat.

Sorry TNDiva I didn't mean to take over your thread. But i think it's a common issue for a lot of people. Just adding two cents.
Hope you don't mind.
It's really kicking sugar more than anything. I don't add salt to anything. So just the sodium that i eat in food is all i get.
What did you start out eating when you first started?

If i could just find some healthy food that I really like and can eat a lot of. I do have a small list of foods that I like like sweet potatoes, and whole grain spaghetti. But i'm limited.
Thanks for your thoughts!

Niceamatlack wrote:Ah, you've got to change your cooking then! Plus, once you get rid of sugar and extra salt and all that crap, your taste buds wake up, so everything starts to taste better!

Theoretically then, everything the slovenly type of overweight person eats, should taste the same; even with a blocked nose

I can imagine some obese 60 year old being asked, when was the last time they ate anything, that tasted different to what they can normally taste and they give an answer like 1967

I bet these days it must a carnival in your mouth every meal time

Re: Weekend Woas
That reminds me of a Homer quote from the Simpsons. He was eating or drinking something, I forget what and he said "it's like there's a party in mouth and everyone's invited"

Yes!Lesplease wrote:There's one on Futurama, too, I think, where Fry says "it's like there's a party in mouth and everyone's throwing up." I think it was about Bender's cooking.

No it gave one player a giant Head, or Gigantism, I think it was Ken Griffy Junior.Lesplease wrote:Darryl Strawberry was on the company softball team and they were drinking some magic stuff from mr burns, and it gave them all giant heads.
One guy got slugged by Barney for disagreeing I think, about who was the greatest boxer of all time, I think it was a guy called Boggs. One guy worked in the plant and got radiation poisoning, I think it was Jose Canseco. Steve Sax was arrested, another guy fell down some black hole type tourist attraction and never returned, (I think that was Ozzy Smith) and another got binned for not shaving his sideburns off, (I think it was Manningly). One guy tried to rescue a woman from a housefire and ended up rescuing everything in her whole house, including the cooker and another player was hypnotised into thinking he was a chicken, by the hypnotist, who then hypnotised Burns into thinking he'd done a good job, when he hadn't, after Burns threatened to sue or report him to his governing body, one of the two.
Strawberry was the only ringer still left, who could play for Burns and replaced Homer

Not sure if I've mentioned them all or not.
