Cardio for a newbie.

Ok im going to start doing weights very soon.

Im skinny with low body fat, but do i still need to do cardio if im eating alot more to keep toned.

If so what cardio should i do. Thanks.

start off with 2 sessions a week on off days if you can doing 15mins on the treadmill alternating 1min at a fast walking/slow jog speed and 1min at almost as fast as you can speed

I'd actually say do that 3 times. I'm not sure two times would be enough to maintain benefit, if he's using novice all over body routine, he should have 4 non-weights days, so he could add Cardio the day after a weights session, and then take a day off.

I'm not entirely sure 2 Cardio sessions a week, will allow for good enough Heart and Lung adaption.

Not trying to sound controversial here :).

he stated for looks not function...heart still works when you do wys doesn't it??

Yes it does, but in terms of Stamina, any Cardiovascular benefit might possibly be low, if you're doing Cardio 2x a week compared to 3, or even in some cases potential benefit lost. I think that's a logical line of thought.

I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just speculating.
