Touch wood? Is that a British saying? :)

Yes, I will watch it carefully....on the 24th our first 17 day phase ends and on to the second one - I hope to lose another 7 pounds by then.

Question (I feel stupid asking  ) - this phase of the diet allows "Live Active" Cottage Cheese as a probiotic.....I don't see that written anywhere on ANY cottage cheese - are they all Live Active?

Touch wood can mean something totally different here in the states, but we won't get into that!

I am assuming that "touch wood" is the same thing as the american version "knock on wood".

Yeah, sometimes when people say touch wood, they occasionally tap a table for some reason.

It's another way of saying hopefully, or with any luck.

We do the knock on wood thing when playing Dominos. It means the player has no moves available at that time and must pass, so they tap their fist on the playing surface, to indicate this to the opponent.

The touch wood physical gesture is sometimes done when the phrase is said, but not always, however when it is, it involves tapping with the flat of your hand.

You learn something new everyday ~! :)

I'm a little premature, because 17 days are not up until the 24th - but as of today I've lost 10.6 lbs since Feb. 8th. I'm hoping to get below where I was plateaued for so long after major weight loss in 2009 by the 24th. THEN the fun begins....the next stop is final goal! Yes!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Well I'm glad the loss keeps you motivated, but I am also skeptical of this diet. However as long as all the food groups are reintroduced I suppose all will be okay :)

The first phase isn't meant to be long term -more of a kick start :) It's certainly kicking butt into gear and I needed it. :D

First I'd like to respond to Bossman's comments in UPDATES? about Caffeine. It's only 3 cups of Green Tea and I'm not drinking any coffee (I use to drink 2-3 cups), so there really isn't an increase in caffeine. The diet allows for coffee, but I simply don't want or need it. I know you may not be comfortable with the overall program at 900-1000 calories per day, but does that change your opinion about Caffeine?

TODAY is day number 17 in the 17 Day Diet, the end of the acceleration phase. The diet boasts you should lose between 10-15 lbs. I lost 13 lbs, husband lost 17. Personally I'm thrilled to get down to where I was "stuck" for so long - and now hope to lose the next 15 in the next 17 or so days. As I've previously stated, this phase I add in 2 starchy carbs every other day. I can't wait to have morning oatmeal :) I expect the second carb will be a medium sized sweet or plain potato. It seems the weight loss was slowing down toward the end of the first 17 days, which was probably due to body beginning to think it was in that starvation mode. Now to reset metabolism, changing it up and lose more weight.

I was watching Dr. OZ the other day and they were talking about an HCG injection that was used in a particular diet run by some doctor. They ate only 500 calories per day for long periods of time taking a daily injection of HCG that is suppose to suppress your appetite! I would NEVER do anything THAT drastic. Dr. OZ stated he was not comfortable with any diet that allowed for less than 1200 calories per day. second phase of the diet I am on will be closer to that 1200 calorie level - I feel like I am eating healthy foods and have been satisfied with the amount of food as well. I am being careful not to over exercise without consuming food appropriate for exercise intensity. I recognize and accept that I may not be building muscle during this period. I feel good, I'll continue to listen to body....and hope it will be 15 lbs lighter in the near future.

Have a great day!

amatlack wrote:Congrats on your progress! I'm wary of stuff like that, myself. I did a cleansing diet that mom does all the time...lost 10 lbs in a week, then couldn't lose another pound for a year because it screwed up metabolism so badly. But I'm glad this is working for you, and I hope the progress continues! :)
Thanks! Of course I really needed to do something because I wanted to fit better in these Jockey clothes when I present at parties! :):):) You were so right about the Modern Bootleg Pants!! OMG! They are so comfortable and they look great!! You can wear them working out or going out! I personally have 4 pairs now - and of course MANY other things from Jockey - I love their Modal material, the cardigan is wonderful and so versatile! I'm having first party Saturday and another Sunday - hope they go well. Thanks for the tip! :)

I think I'm spending too much time on these forums...
I actually woke up this morning and thought "It is the 24th...day 17 for Lu! - I need to check her journal to see if she posted her results!"
Congrats on the 13 lbs. Lu. (and hubby's 17lbs.) :D

I'm happy that you are having progress. However reaching a plateau doesn't mean changing to a drastic diet for everyone. It can be done with all food groups included, because I've personally done it myself.
