The hot sausage caught attention. Not sure how old your dog is, but moms dog shakes too, though she is like 15.
Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Oops, forgot that you need to add 1 egg to ricotta mixture just in case anyone makes it.
That's right Lynne - I did use turkey - should make it aok
The HOT sausage (Bonnie) really made it special.
I'm about to go upstairs and walk, jog 3 miles on the treadmill.

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Hi there~! I'm still alive and kicking - although I must admit I've been on a start and stop mode for too long - and figured you all were getting tired of those kind of posts. Both husband and I are going on a food program that I hope will kick start some real results. Good news is I did find another workout partner who plans to come over often, not sure if he'll come every day. He is self employed and spends too much time at the computer (his work is software related) and he needs an excuse to get away from the computer, and I need him to move me....so when he comes over it forces me to go upstairs and workout. He's in great shape, isn't needy in the exercise area, so he's perfect for me..actually it's a win/win for us both. Hope it lasts!
So, once I have something to report I'll get back into posting. I have done some pretty intensive circuits - where I couldn't move for 2 days! But nothing consistent - so I'll be back. I wish all friend here well. new program should help me lost 20 lbs in 6 weeks, it's healthy option, don't worry! Lean Protein, veggies and fruits.....but something structured - I got into the habit of eating fairly healthy but too much - I plan to follow the program to the T, so wish me luck - starting tomorrow!
BTW - Precious is doing well - almost back to her old self, still has stone and kidney issues but she has accepted the new food program to prevent further deterioration so I have fingers crossed

As soon as I woke I had a cup of HOT water with a half lemon squeezed into it.
Breakfast - 2 egg whites scrambled with onion and broccoli, 1 apple and 1 cup of Green Tea
Snack - Greek Yogurt (with nothing else~! ) normal yogurt concoction had tons of stuff in it

Lunch - Green Salad (Romaine and Baby Spinach) with 1 tomato, diced zucchini and red pepper - topped with 1 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp balsamic vinagarette - 1 Cup of Green Tea
Snack - cup of blueberries (before 2 PM)
Dinner - Plenty of grilled chicken (2 fairly sm. skinless breasts) cooked with George Forman and a bunch of steamed broccoli - 1 Cup of Green Tea.
Minimum of 8 glasses of water.
That's it for the day - this is representative of the first phase of the programs daily food intake. It's not a whole lot different from what I normally ate, just less and no bread or oatmeal at this point - and of course NO sweets, NO cheating - I'm in for the duration. I won't be posting daily food, it's really quite boring nor workouts - but I'll check in weekly at a minimum - hopefully with some good results!
Re: Lu's Workout Journal
It has absolutely no grain carbohydrates, yet has 2 servings of simple carbohydrates, though suppose it will be interesting to see what happens. Keep notes on what happens to your energy level & brain functionality. Will look forward to next weeks post, take care Lu

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Grains are introduced on the next phase along with a potato or 2....but mostly the same. I did weigh myself this morning (I promised I wouldn't until Tuesday morning) but I couldn't help it and it's working!! I'll give you a number next Tuesday, just in case it doesn't sustain itself. This phase is a GREAT plateau buster...even if for only a week or two. I'm VERY excited!
I made a delicious new veggie soup from the diet book I am following that in opinion was fabulous! Here's the recipe:
While you bake 4 chicken breasts, put the following ingredients in a pan and simmer for 1 hour, or as long as it takes to properly cook the veggies:
1 1/2 cup chopped Cabbage
1 large, or two small carrots - chopped
2 Stalks Celery with leaves, chopped
1 large onion chopped
1 14 oz can of fat free chicken broth
1 large can of crushed tomatoes
1 medium zucchini sliced
1 container of brussels spouts, quartered
1 1/2 teas salt
1/4 teas pepper
Red Hot to taste - this is very important.
As soon as the chicken breasts are done, the veggies are probably done as well. Dice chicken breasts into small chunks and add to soup.
The actual recipe called for 1 cup okra, I replaced with the zucchini and brussels sprouts. I also increased the crushed tomatoes from small to large can - I felt it needed more, as it was it was very much a stew vs a soup. And of course the Red Hot was mine - we almost always put red hot in our soups and I think this one needs it.
Have a great day!

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Food Today
Hot Water with 1/2 Lemon squeezed.
Breakfast - 2 Hard Boiled Eggs, a pear and green tea for breakfast
Lunch - Baby Spinach Salad with Grape Tomatoes and 2 tbsp FF Feta Cheese
Dinner - Small Bowl of veggie stew (Made it again!) and a Taco Salad
Taco Salad
1 lb lean ground Turkey, browned over moderate heat. Add one envelope Taco Seasoning and cook according to directions. Place generous serving of lettuce on plate, top with turkey mixture, chopped tomatoes, shopped onions Shredded reduced fat cheddar cheese and Salsa -I didn't even miss the Taco Shells!!!!
I forgot mid day snack of fruit, wasn't hungry I guess. But had a Kefir Smoothie tonight - yum! Smoothie was made with 1 C Plain unsweetened Kefir, 1 Cup Frozen Blueberries, 1 tbsp sugar-free fruit jam, 1 tbsp Flax (didn't have flax oil) Blend till smooth. hubby doesn't normally eat Greek Yogurt, so the taste was foreign to him as Plain Kefir and Greek Yogurt are similar in taste., he needed to add a packet of Truvia.
I did a Cardio Abs routine this morning as well as 20 minutes, 8 sprints on the treadmill.
I'm so proud of myself, friend came over and while she drank wine, I had WATER in wine glass(seemed to make sense:) ) and I really wasn't even tempted to have any. I am really serious about losing weight.

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Sounds great

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
The results are in.....drum roll? I lost 7 lbs since last Tuesday when I began new diet! I'm very excited!! I didn't cheat once, ate all the right things and frankly I felt great! I didn't have any issues with energy or brain function (any more than normal anyway
)
I've been working out every day, but not pushing it due to lack of carbs in food program - need those carbs! Today I did circuits, no break, 1 minute each exercise, 3 sets. Lat Pull downs 50 lbs, Squat/Stand -reach over head with medicine ball, Front/Side Raises and incline flyes. Then did some weighted squats with Smith Machine 2 x 12 95 lbs. Course I did appropriate stretching and warms ups.
So I'm set to complete the next week and hope to lose another 7.
Last night we went to a dinner party where I had volunteered to make lasagna - I made 2 pans of lasagna, but made 4 chicken breast over plenty of spinach and brought that for me and Rick to eat. We resisted all the beautiful bread in the basket in the middle of the table as well as the homemade 10 layer chocolate cake ...and had water in our wine glasses.....not bad huh? Boy did I want a piece or 2 or 3 of that cake!
See you next week if not sooner.
Have a great day!

Awesome Lu! You are doing great. I know it feels good to see those numbers go down. you are working very hard and are focused, and it shows in your results!ldematto wrote:The results are in.....drum roll? Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Be careful to monitor that, as 7lbs may be some water weight as well, but if the weight amount keeps going down like that regularly, you'll be crash dieting, which means you'll be casuing metabolic issues, by potentially burning muscle as well and muscle helps to burn fat.
Re: Lu's Workout Journal
This is the 17 Day diet by Dr. Mike Moreno. The first 17 days is geared to rapid weight loss, but contains healthy foods (see post below for some more examples) Clearly some of the loss is water weight - it truly is a stage, not something to maintain for a long time. Stage 2 is suppose to reset the metabolism by increasing and decreasing caloric consumption by introduction of additional foods every other day. After that 17 day phase other foods are re-introduced - then off to maintenance. Here's some more food info for this phase:
This phase you start with hot water with 1/2 lemon squeezed into it which stimulates your digestive juices. Here are some sample menus:
Breakfast
2 scrambled egg whites ( I add with onions and broc)
1 low sugar fruit (apple, 1/2 grapefuit, pear, orange etc.
1 cup Green Tea
Lunch
Large green Salad topped with tuna (1 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar) OR large bowl of chicken veg soup
1 cup Green Tea
Dinner
Plenty of grilled Chicken/Turkey OR Salmon/Tilapia etc with liberal amounts of cleansing veggies (cauli/cabbage/broccoli/brussel Sprouts/Aparagus/Spinach/Okra/ bell peppers all colors, Artichokes
1 Cup Green Tea
Daily you need 2 servings of fruit (not past 2 PM) and 2 Probiotics as snacks or as part of meal. You can substitute eggs with greek yogurt or Kefir Smoothie. You can have 4 yolks per week unless you have cholesterol issues.
1-2 healthy fats - olive oil/flax oil
Never eat till stuffed but protein and veggies are pretty much unlimited.
Always 8 glasses of water minimum, hot lemon water counts but not tea.
Next 17 day phase adds in shellfish/ other lean meats (pork, steak/ ground beef etc, as well as natural starches and legumes - starchy veggies, corn, potato winter squashes...but EVERY OTHER DAY - other wise a meal on the first phase - keeps your body guessing and in the fat burning mode vs the starvation mode.
I've lost 2 more lbs since Tuesday for a total so far of 9 lbs. husband lost 13. I think with the reintroduction of foods, fear of burning muscle should disappear, I hope. Actually this diet isn't that much different from our normal eating habits (when not cheating
), except for the lack of carbs.
When I reach goal weight (19 more lbs) I can focus more on muscle and tone, but I am exercising throughout, just not as intensely.
Have a great day!
