Help..Need to gain weight!!

Post by Getfit101 »

What is the best strategy for gaining weight? I am a stick figure and always have been. I am very athletic but havnt worked out since I had daughter last March. I am withering away and it is very unattractive. I want to build muscle and gain some fat but in a healthy way. Does anyone have any suggestions? People laugh at me because It is uncommon for individuals that want to gain weight so nobody gives me advice except to eat. metabolism is insane and I cannot gain a pound!! I eat everything! What are the best recipes and do I have to eat several meals a day? Help

Start weightlifting the basic way.

You work every muscle group 2x a session. Don't exceed 8-10 repetitions per set, with as light a weight as possible on every exercise.

Stick ot compund stuff like Deadlifts, Barbell Rows, Bench Pressing, Squats etc, with a bit of direct muscle work thrown in, like E-Z Bar Curls, Pressdowns as examples.

90 seconds rest between sets on small muscles, 120, for big ones.

Do 3 sessions a week alternate days and repeat this for 4-6 weeks, so your body can get used to the biomechanics of weightlifting.

Also what do you eat now and what times do you eat?

I have a question, and maybe an answer. Are you eating clean, ie.) low fat now. If so, I would recommend eating more red meat. The extra fat is a good sourrce of calories and is good for testosterone production. Train hard, and eat.

However, the added Red meat could increase the risk of Kidney Stones, so eating more Protein is good, but in Red Meat terms more would help I agree, but I think more Chicken and Turkey could be added as to give more protein, but with greater intake of white flesh too. Turkey has some Fat in anyway, Chicken can have it added via oils as you could with Mushrooms. Although Mushrooms do have some Carb, around 50/50 ratio with protein, so that must be factored in.

Also Soybeans would do well there too for Protein and Fats.
