You could start at 1800 and see where you are in 1 or 2 weeks. You could start even higher if your exercising a lot but if not so much i think 1800 sounds good. I'm much rather be eating 1800 calories and losing weight than 1300 i will tell you that!

They can though if moderated, exercises also being a primary factor.
High Calcium Diets have been proven to increase Fat excretion as well. The Danish discovered this around 5 years ago, by analysing stool samples from low Calcium participants one week, then the next the same people ate more Dairy and excreted more Fat in the stools.

I didnt' know that about a high calcium diet, good to know. But just having some diary i think in moderation should be okay and not limiting? Personally I don't think depriving yourself of all dairy is the answer for most people. I love carbs and i love dairy as well.
I like to hear what you guys have to say on that although that lifestyle for myself at least seems quite out of reach at the moment.

Some of the less refined grains also have calcium. Are all calcium the same or are their different kinds ? Such as between dairy & grain ?
Re: A bit confuse now!
Nutrition is really starting to be difficult to understand.Think I know why its such a long & expensive course.JUST when you think you know what foods are good for your diet, there are other factors, such as glycemic load, cooking methods etc.Oh & lets not forget to get net carbs, you need to minus the fiber..seriously mind bending for the average person.
However thoughts on dairy stem from when I stopped drinking 1 1/2 cups per day & body responded with a fairly significant fat loss.

Yes, her food choices are not great for weight loss, but I cut the portions down and tried to add vegetables so that she could give higher meal frequency a try with the food she has at home.Bonnie wrote:That meal plan appears to have a lot of starch & dairy, neither of which lead to weight loss.
I hope I don't seem too defensive for replying to this Bonnie, or too damning of your food choices FrenchMaid! tone is friendly : )

No no, its all good, seriously I didn't just roll out of bed one day & start eating squeaky clean, its a process, we all take different paths & time lines

That's good to hear Bonnie, I don't know if i will ever be to your level eating squeaky clean but there is hope. I hope you don't mind asking but Bonnie, do you know how many calories your eating on a daily basis? I"m just wondering because you've had so much success.Bonnie wrote:didn't just roll out of bed one day & start eating squeaky clean, its a process, we all take different paths & time lines

Yeah I added it up last month, when I posted diet, was 1850 I think ? Not sure how I could possibly increase that without running the risk of fat gain.As it was I added a lot of complex carbohydrates in just to balance out diet.Doing some adjustments now & need to understand how glycemic load works also for particular diet, just feel lazy to look it all up & do the math
I'm no expert on weight loss. I certainly have not studied much about it like some of you. and I know Bonnie, you have had great success with your diet! But i respectfully disagree that you can't lose weight with starch and dairy. I know because i have lost weight eating both starch and dairy.
I'm understand that eating a combination of protein, carbs and fat is a great way to go for losing weight and will help your body product less insulin and that really may be more healthy as well. But i think for weight loss in general it really comes down to exercise and watching your calorie intake. Why would something like the twinkie diet work for somebody if that were not the case? I'm not saying that is a healthy diet, just stating that for arguments sake.
it does not take me long to get confuse in this department... i am still not sure how many calories to eat... but i will manage reading everyone comments... well at least i think....

Just own opinion on the matter, to help make Frenchie and myself as well even more confused!
Brent I realize you've taken up exploring your mind/body connection, but verbally shoving people will never work, if you find yourself frustrated reading her posts, perhaps don't read them ?
