Posting this from phone so I can't really post a picture, but I've made insane progress in just a few weeks.
Keeping in mind I didn t exercise for 2 weeks, December 7th I did 45 pushups. Yesterday(1 month with 2 weeks off so only truly 2 weeks) I did 86. Tomorrow I'm hoping to break 90. By next Friday I'm looking to be over 100. I'm more than willing to email a screenshot so you can see what the sets look like
I began a program to realize 100 pumps, 3 months ago.
I made 60 pumps before beginning him(it).
I specify that I make pumps full amplitudes, tense arms and breast on the ground.
A few day ago, I realized new max, and result(profit): 100 pumps.

If you really want more size and definition in your arms I think dips and pull-ups might be more beneficial than standard push-ups. And, as others have mentioned here, narrow push-ups will place more emphasis on your triceps. Of course, the real key to getting ripped--definition--is to burn more calories than you take in.

When I was 39, I set a goal to do age in pushups on 40th birthday. I could already do 30-some-odd, so it wasn’t a problem. I’ve made this goal part of general fitness routine and do it every year. You’d think it would get harder as the years pass, but it doesn’t. I turned 68 a couple of weeks ago and did 81 pushups in a minute, being careful to maintain the standard military PT-test form. I had three gym buddies and two staff watching to make sure form was good. It was hard to concentrate with them doing “Energizer Bunny” jokes.
I think the key to success is consistency. Except for the few weeks a year when wife and I go on vacation, I hit the USAF base gym three times per week and walk (fast) most days. In the gym, I alternate between “push” and “pull”. I avoid over-training and get enough rest to insure recovery and growth. I’m usually in and out of the gym in no more than 30 minutes.
diet isn’t anything special. I eat about 2/3 of what I want. I never eat until I’m “full”. I eat what I want, just less of it. At 5’9” with a slim frame, I weigh 145 lbs. waist is 30” and chest is 44”. I’m real happy with abs.
It’ll be interesting to see how long I can keep this up. I’m well ahead of where I need to be. I feel as good as I did 35 years ago. Too bad I don’t look as good.
