Help!!!!!

Post by pepperw2 »

Hi. I am a 38 year old female and I am roughly 60 pounds overweight (I am 5'4-1/2 and 206 pounds...ouch..guess I am more than 60 pounds over at ths point lol). Year before last I lost nearly 40 pounds by running and South Beach, but it took me a year. I have gained roughly 20 pounds of it back (I don't have an excuse) I know I should never have stopped, but I guess I just needed to learn that lesson.

Now I am motivated like never before, but a year and only 40 pounds is discouraging. Did it take me so long because I did mostly cardio and very little resistance training? Or is that a good amount of weight to lose in a year? Does anyone have any advice for me to speed up weight loss? I really enjoy running.

Don't worry, I am not thinking unrealistic. I still want to lose at a healthy pace. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Wink

yes, low carb induced isn't susatinable as you can't go low carb all the time so as soon as you start back up, bang your over wt again

running is fine but i wouldn't (and don't) do it at the expense of wts...if you want to run 4/week and plan to do wts 3/week, don't take out a wts session to fit in the 4th running session if time is tight

wts increase metabolism, running doesn't and that's what loses wt

Hi,

Well, resistance training does help. More import though is diet. Your exercise program can be fantastic, but if you don't eat right your progress will be minimal.

Running is fantastic. I am a runner myself. You can have a greta exercise program with running a few days a week and doing some resistance training at least twice a week. Combine that with good nutrition and you will be headed for success. Let me know if I can help at all.
