Thanks guys. It may be the last one you see with hair that color. I am going "all natural" (if resolve doesn't crumble in the coming weeks) and letting hair be the color it is....silver/white with some black mixed in. I'm really not sure how much of it is silver - but it looks like most of the hair towards face and temples and sides is silver and towards the back of head and neck it is more black with some silver mixed in.
I'm just tired of coloring it (I could save about $400 a year) and I've been considering it for a long time - but now seems the best time to go ahead and just do it. I mean after all who am I trying to impress? hubby says go for it, he thinks I'm beautiful whether it's silver or blonde or brown, whatever. son said go for it, too. One thing I will have to do is get a shorter cut - just so I won't have that awful "grown out" two tone color.
Any ideas on a cute cut that won't make me look like an old granny? I want to have a stylish, kinda spunky fun cut, that fits personality. What do you guys think?

Todays workout:
5.5 mile run / .5 walk :D

Well actually if you could stand one more color, try & match it to your natural color & then grow it out.I decided early in hairdressing career to NEVER color hair, so far I've kept that promise to myself.Besides colored hair generally looks dry vs healthier hair, you might notice this down the road.I made the decision to grow these bangs out, so guess we will both be facing hair challenges soon..can anyone say hair band for years..sigh.Not sure why you want to change your hairstyle exactly, like it the way it is.

I don't really want to change it - and hadn't thought of trying to color it to match the natural color it will be. If I could do that, then there would be no need to cut it short. Only reason I was gonna cut it short was to try to get the old color off of it sooner, so I wouldn't have that awful looking "half grown out" hair color.
thanks for the suggestion bonnie.
No bangs, eh? I've had bangs since I was 18, would love to be brave enough to let grow out - but I can only handle one shock at a time!
Did you cut your hair shorter? I noticed in your latest pics it looked shorter - it looks cute.

bangs, yeah always either to long or to short, leaving me looking like the kid in first grade who found the scissors for the first time  I am growing them out because I don't want to use hairspray etc anymore, think I've had bangs since gosh, forever..are pictures of me from like 2 years old & up with bangs.

Sounds to me like the 5k is going to be lots more fun for you than the half would have been. You had stated before you like shorter fast races and you are getting the fun of running it with your son. I can't wait to hear about race day :D

Hey Lynne! hair is naturally silver, white and dark brown, some shade of brown, not quite sure. I've had a silver streak in bangs since I was 16 - but anyway, what I do and I highly recommend is while you are letting it grow out, do low lights...reverse streaks. So, instead of the silver coming through in inches, it looks very natural.......once it grew out I use a 28 day color ($10) and as it washed out I have the greatest natural highlights as the part covering the gray lightens first. L'oriel is what I use, and with the creme rinse hair is soft and silky - not the brittle look that sometimes is the result with permanent color. I use to get hair done professionally (I still get it cut) but now home remedy for color works and is MUCH cheaper. I totally understand - it's like taking out a mortgage when you go to the hairdresser these days!

Good luck - grey, brown or whatever you decide - you look great!

Yes, I'm looking forward to the fall & winter season of 5k's - there are several coming up that I hope to run with son :D
I am eyeing a half or a full marathon in April - I know....glutton for punishment! but running club has a "feature spring race" where many of our members train for this race, running 1/2 marathon and full marathon. I am hoping if I can get joined up with a few other runners & train with them that it will help me get through the training miles &months alot easier. It is so hard to train alone for the longer distance races.
But right now I'm focusing on the shorter 5K's - I am no where near as fast as I used to be, I have a lot of work to do in that department, but am making some progress. Short term goal is to be under 29:00, long term goal (by December) is to be under 27:00. PR for a 5K is 23:16 - set about 9 yrs. and 25 lbs. less ago!  guess that's dream goal.

Today's workout:

Lunchtime interval run

Went over to the park on lunch hour - it's finally cool enough to be able to run without being a dripping sweaty mess afterwards!

Ran a total of 3 miles, split into 3 sections, which I will use in the future to compare times with. First timed stop was at 10:36 (guesstamating about 1.10 mile) stopped watch, 1 min. rest, stretch, started back - Second timed stop was at 17:18 -1 min. rest, Third timed stop was at 24:47 - approx 2.5 mile mark.
Fourth and Final stop time (approx .5 mile run) 28:27
I don't have any way of measuring this exact distance, but I am assuming it is about 3 miles total. But regardless of how far it is - I can use it to improve on and measure speed, reducing each timed portion, and also having the option of running the whole distance without stopping.
For right now, that is all I am focusing on. Shorter runs with pick ups and intervals and 2 longer runs @ steady pace. long runs will be kept at 6 to 7 miles for right now.

Breakfast: Atkins Choc. Protein shake (1 gram sugar, 15 grams protein) & few almonds & pistachios
Lunch: chicken breast with chopped lettuce, tomato, 2% LF mozz. cheese stick, broccoli florets, avocado slices, sliced fresh mushrooms, 2 tbsp LF dressing

Really trying to refocus and get serious about training and weight loss. I have let a few pounds creep back on in the last month - goal is to be back under 160 by race day - 3 weeks from now. I have about 5 lbs. to lose to get there. :?

You'll do it Lynne! I give you lots of credit! I can't imagine running at lunchtime in the middle of a workday - talk about determined :)

Don't worry about the lbs - they will come off - sometimes I fluctuate that up and down in 1 day

Weight fluctuates daily anyway, due to increased water and food ingestion and then loss of things like sweat and waste matter.

Exactly! We sometimes get too caught up in what the scale says....lately I've been getting lots of compliments and I'm hovering around 175 - not where I want to be, but it seems to serve me well.....still, I want to lose more, but I'm not going to freak over the scale.....Lynne, you shouldn't either....throw the scale away! :)

I do use the scale to keep up with a general idea of where I am at weight wise. I know it fluctuates, but I know that it is not lying when it is "fluctuating" a good 5 or 6 lbs. consistently higher than it has been.  And I can see it and feel it in body - so....back to work!!

Todays a.m. workout

3 mile out & back run.
Turnaround time: 15:47
Finishing time 30:47
Negative split of 47 seconds!! yes! :D

Legs a bit tired from yesterdays intervals, and I had a bit of traffic get in way (dang vehicles...it's like they think they should be driving on the road when I'm trying to run.. ) so I feel like I could have done a bit faster with fresh legs and no traffic interference. All in all - felt GREAT!!!
44 degrees this morning...that's what I'm talking 'bout baby!!! Perfect running weather. :D
