Happy birthday

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Thanks for all the birthday wishes - it's good to make it to another one!
I had a great meeting with the Personal Trainer - for our first meeting he worked me on the machines I think primarily to see where I was, but more importantly to work me to fatigue in all muscle groups, starting with the largest. Focused on "mind to muscle" connections - and technique. After each exercise we did specific stretching for those muscles. I have been using light weights at home, higher repetitions (actually not high enough I'm sure)-I'm not sure what weights we used (he placed additional resistance personally on the machine, pushing me, but light weights did not seem to be his answer, and I guess I needed to get through fear due to shoulder, especially with upper body exercises. So, I will push myself......I really felt like I worked out, that's for sure!! I'll see him again next week, in the meantime I will work muscles at home using the equipment I have....most can be done on functional trainer, or bench with leg attachments.
Since I'm going out for dinner tonight for birthday, I know I will watch what I eat at least for main meal, BUT I jumped on the elliptical for 30 minutes (Fat Burning Program, level 5 - resistance intervals) to offset the dessert that I am SURE to have
Have a great day!

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Birthday calories don't count.
Have fun!

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
I myself think there is nothing wrong with eating badly from time to time. The key is "time to time". Enjoy your birthday!!

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Uggghh! I did enjoy birthday dinner - it was sooooo good! I ordered the tenderloin, shrimp combo - I knew the portions wouldn't be too big. We shared a bottle of Pinot Noir ( fave red) and we shared 1 (very small) chocolate desert of some sort <---I should've left that at the restaurant
But all in all it was a great day, I will get totally back on board tomorrow!

Thank you Bossman - you truly are a gem
Today I hurt all over! I only thought I workout out before (weights) - I really feel like I accomplished something yesterday with the trainer! He made several suggestions of improving the intensity - I'm thrilled and will see him again next week.
Today I went to the beach, it was a fabulous day! I packed a healthy lunch and brought only water to drink. friend Heidi and I power walked along the shoreline - it was great! I also jumped on the elliptical when I got home, and did 20 minutes on the Glute Burning program level 5 - it kept telling me to stride backward, then forward! I really didn't like the backward stuff.....just didn't feel natural.
Tomorrow I'm going to try to replicate the exercises I did yesterday with equipment - we'll see.
Hope you had a great day!

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Yeah I tried the backwards mode when I saw other people doing it.Though when you think about it, is the body supposed to hyper extend the leg repeatedly ? All movement related to fitness are supposed to be functional based I cant think of one instance in real life, where I'd be kicking legs backwards.Glad you are energized & enjoying yourself

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
I agree. Going backward feels wrong, I didn't feel comfortable or balanced, so after trying it once or twice, I abandoned it altogether and never regretted it.
You are doing AWESOME Lu!!!

That sounds like a perfect day to me. So excited for you Lu, you are really getting in the zone and stepping up your workouts! You go girl!ldematto wrote:Today I went to the beach, it was a fabulous day! Re: Lu's Workout Journal
I am so glad to hear your responses on striding backwards!! I was thinking, OMG, I'm so out of shape, but you are all right! It's NOT natural - I can't think of anything we do on a day to day basis that relates - and yes, it's so much slower that you really feel you are wasting valuable workout time.
Today I am going to attempt to get weights done, but I am still so sore - I feel like I was run over by a truck! LOL

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Our minds think alike allison
swimming came to mind but I think the kicks are only supposed to extend to anatomical position, meaning they don't hyper extend, just flexion & extension.

Re: Lu's Workout Journal
Today's Workout - still sore but had to do something!
Warmed up with Jumping Jacks - even that hurt! I felt like body was ten tons!
I used Functional Trainer - previously I only used it to do Chin Ups and Lat Pull Downs. I only did one set 10 reps of each exercise trying to get a feel for the actual exercise done this way and the weight stacks.
Alternating Curls to Press 30 lbs.
Incline Press 20 lbs.
Decline Press 20 lbs
Internal Rotation x 2 20 lbs.
Low to High Press w/rotation 20 lbs.
Lying Hip Extension - x 2 - 25 lbs.
Adduction w/thigh strap x 2 - 25 lbs.
Leg Extensions w/ Bench - 15 - 40 lbs.
Jumped on the Elliptical for 20 minutes, Fat Burning Program level 5
