I've never sought approval from parents or anything. Not that I can remember anyway. I've always known right from wrong for years and would have often done what I thought was best for me regardless, (mistakes aside), because I never chose to do anything drastic or possibly endangering to life with the way I live life.

Sometimes parents need to realise, you're not them and will lie how you see fit. If you've not become a major league by the age of 18, chances are you're most likely not to start living your life in terrible ways, so you don't need them to judge you, bring you back from some brink or other, or have you thinking you should lie like they have, which may make your life miserable if it's not what's best for you.

They don't stop being your parents when you and they are alive, but they can at some pont continue to act the same at times, in a way where it starts to become wrong. Sometimes they need to be reminded of that.

You know what sort of person you are now, so be proud of it and don't forget what it's worth.

You're a fantastic Lady and the best thing about you is that you are you :).

So glad to hear your dad got to come home - YAY :D As for the sleeping until 10:30 and losing your motivation for running - it sounds like your body is telling you to take a rest!!!

We both said lots of words but the bottom line is the above quote :)
fitoverforty wrote:Well, this is just great....I have started experiencing daytime heat flashes. All of a sudden I will feel burning hot from the inside out, around throat and face area, then I will break out in a cold sweat. I realize that I am getting to the age of the "change", and i say, bring it on! No more periods would be fine by me - in fact it really pisses me off to have to still have them AND be having the hot flashes and sweats too!
Maybe you're coming down with something - sleeping late, heat from the inside out...tired, not motivated? But you are about the right age..I think I was 50, but I got the benefits at 37, partial hysto - yeah!!! When you go to the doc about your arm (finally!!!!) make sure you get checked out for flu, and a blood test to determine if you are going through the change.

Lynne - you're not burned out - you've had a lot going on, you're probably exhausted - soooo glad your Dad seems to be on the mend.

Take care special lady - we need you! :)

yeah, I think it is referred to as old age.... jkng! It is a combo, I'm sure, of financial stress (hubby's job in sales is at a standstill) and work (not getting enough hours), dad being so ill, worrying about him - i think it finally took it's toll and the body said ENOUGH! I even took an additional 2 hour nap that same day!

due to financial reasons it looks like 1/2 marathon may have to be nixed. It's just life. It is hard to justify spending $60 for a race fee, plus travel & gas expenses totaling nearly $100 - when we have bills waiting to be paid. I knew the race would cost that much, but I was hoping we would be caught up on bills and maybe be able to swing it. I think this also had alot to do with loss of motivation - I've had this hanging over head for a while now - I just didn't want to have to face it.
I should stick to the smaller distance races they usually only cost about $15 to $25 tops. There are alot of local 5 & 10K coming up in the next few months. :D

Maybe I will go out and run 13 miles on the day of the race - own little 1/2 marathon.

Awwww Lynne - that's really too bad about the work stuff - I know it doesn't make you feel any better, but so many people are faced with very difficult times right now :( As you know I lost job over a year ago, and frankly some of set backs have been due to depression I'm sure - something that was never part of life before. I find that exercise (without unrealistic goals) is medicinal and increases energy and makes me feel better about myself. I certainly feel better about how I look - remember I was 211~! Ack!!!

You look great, you are a wonderful Mom, wife and daughter - and a role model/mentor to so many here who struggle daily with the same life issues you and I have...maybe more. Remember, celebrate the good things....minimize the bad....or was it celebrate the successes, minimize the set backs....set priorities and continue to put YOU on the list :)
Feel better friend :)

Not a friendly economy out there. The work you put in will be of good use in those 5 and 10Ks

got up this a.m. and went out to run.
Didn't have alot of time, so I decided just to run 2 miles. Ended up making it a "race pace" running two 1 mile repeats, because i started out and noticed right away that I was running faster than usual - so I wanted to take advantage of that energy and see where I'm at on mile pace averages.
I didn't officially time the first mile, but looking at watch, I knew it was about a 9:30 mile.
It was an out and back mile repeat and going out had more downhills. So I knew coming back would have more hill work, I just tried to keep an even faster pace - listening to Aerosmith "Livin' on the Edge".
Second mile time: 9:03

I needed this today. I needed to get outside, breathe the air, work lungs, run fast, push through all the stress, anxiety, worry.
Dad is back in the hospital.
