I'm really struggling this week. I'm not liking where I'm at mentally. I know I need to do workouts - even got dressed in workout clothes, but just the thought of doing the warmup exercises seems too much and here I am still sitting on duff. I know i just need to suck it up and do it, but I feel tired, drained. Worked a full day today - felt good to be at work, with all it's distractions.

I hope to get a good night's sleep and start tomorrow morning with a fresh outlook. Get out the door and do 5 or 6 miles - I know i would be so happy afterwards, so I just got to do it.
Good news, dad is doing better. :)
Breakfast: Kashi Bar
Lunch: subway roast beef on WW / 1 slice american cheese / gr. bell pepper, onion, spinach
Supper: pan cooked in EVOO - chicken breast w/salad, sauteed mushrooms, bell pepper, steamed green beans

I've been researching "Self-Sabatoge" because i have felt for years that I am an expert at it. I want to understand what it is in me that makes me that way, why I keep repeating certain cycles and patterns of doing good, then undoing all the good. One of the first symptoms of self sabatage is: Procrastination! Ugh! That's practically middle name!
I know everything is about choices, and it should be simple, but it is not. The mind is a powerful weapon, even against ourselves sometimes. Freeing ourselves from the past and all the garbage we drag with us for years, is the key, I feel, to finally being able to move forward, permanently, without falling back into the traps that keep us failing. At least for me, anyway. :)

I wrote a post, not sure where it went ?..I wish you all the success with your inner struggles, I realize that perhaps its not as easy for all people to adapt to the entire holistic approach needed for achieving ones fitness & life goals.I think the method I used when I left a certain food behind was..for now I won't eat this or that, I can ALWAYS go back to eating it later If I want, but after awhile, I found I didn't want to go back to it.I can't really speak on procrastinating about the actual exercise, because it has never been an issue with me, thankfully.Glad to hear your dad is doing better :)

You are going through some over the top stress right now. I would expect that that is really putting you through some chages. I would not chuck it all up to self-sabotage. I'm hoping the best for your dad.

Thanks guys. I know it has been a tough week.

I did actually get off duff and do something while I was cooking dinner, in between cooking the chicken, steaming the corn & green beans I did:

25 jumping jacks
2x8 wide pushups
2x12 leg lifts
1x30 secs. front plank
1x1 min. front plank

wondering what I can pair with the pushups do compliment the muscles - keeping in mind bum right elbow? Can't do pullups ( fav  ) right now. maybe DB rows (5 lb) ? or is that a waste of time with such a low weight. Any ideas?

DB Rows would be good I think. Prehpas use a modified technique where you work both Arms together, just like you would with a Barbell, to reduce workout time, compared to doing each Arm seperately for reps, as per usual.

Todays workout:

4.0 mile early a.m. run
43:19
10:49 pace per mile
post run: protein shake

The victory was in stepping out the front door - the rest was just icing on the cake. :D (oops, didn't mean to say "cake") 8)

Visited dad (still in hospital) on lunch hour. He wasn't having a very good day - having some adverse reactions to medicines. Hard to see him like that and not be able to help him. :|

All I wanted to do today when i got home from work was crash on the couch - just "check out" for a while. But I decided to put some of frustrations to "work".

Evening workout: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-q923Q5_ns" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Circuit workout: 10 reps each of 6 exercises repeating each circuit as many as possible in 25 minutes
1. 5 lb. DB Rotation Punch L&R
2. Burpee (Sprawl) with jump up - very hard to do
3. Plyo Pushups
4. Lunges w/twist (no ball)
5. Squat/DB Row/Curl
6. Core Dive w/toe touch on stability ball - deceptively evil exercise - had to switch to stab. ball rollout w/ab knee tuck

Legs were tired from this mornings run.
I only did 3 circuits in about 14 minutes. That was enough. I was pouring sweat. Heart was pounding out of chest. But it felt good to be doing something instead of laying on the couch worrying about everything. :) Now it's off to the kitchen to figure out what to make for supper - got a hungry Jr. High boy to feed!

I'm so sorry about your Dad's health issues - he will be in thoughts and prayers.

The best response to your internal sabatoge comments was Lesplease - she's so damn smart!! Sabatage isn't a word I would use in your presence, much less about you! It's all about life and living.....Lynne - you need to remember everything you DO - not what you don't do. You are raising a wonderful son, taking care of your husband (argue all you want, we DO take care of you guys~! ) a career woman AND you are actually taking pretty darn good care of yourself in the midst of all that!!! We all have set backs, even though some may not readily admit it ;) I love your honesty, YOU are so genuine, such a caring and wonderful human being. Take whatever time you need - try your best to eat right and exercise, but don't be so hard on yourself. Otherwise I'm gonna have to come to Texas and straighten you out ;)

I echo that sentiment. You have absolutely NOTHING to reproach yourself for Lynne. You are a really humanly beautiful Lady and so honest, genuine and touching. You should be so proud of how you are coping and making sure you get all important YOU time, to take care of yourself.

I'm really, really proud of you misses
and I want you to keep being understanding of yourself and try to keep doing the best you think you can. Not more than can, only what you think is reasonably possible.

This site, has and always will look out for it's loyal, caring, members in times of difficulty. You've given so much to us over your time here, it's now time for us to give a little back to you :).

Your Father is so lucky to be able to call you his daughter and we are lucky to call you part of the comminity and to have you here with us. The internet can be an amazing thing when it's used properly and I'm proud of what this site can do and be for others.

Chin up, keep smiling and I'm sending you a BIG PAT ON THE BACK

You are doing fantastically well to cope misses and your strength and composure are truly admirable. You are human though and you're allowed to feel things and make occasional mistakes and when it comes to being human in the emotional sense, none of us are truly 100% answerable to anyone, including ourselves.

Keep doing your best, (it's pretty amazing) and keep being you. The world needs more people like you to make the sun shine and remind us that the world is not always a massive slough of despond and that there are good things and good people, to share your similar personality and character traits with.

Well done for getting through this so strongly and beautifully missses. Seriously, WELL DONE and GOOD LUCK doing whatever you have to do, to continue doing that.

We will be here for you anytime and if it gets a little heavy sometimes, PM me anytime you like and we'll try to work things through okay :).

Thank you Fygle, me too. :)

Todays workout:

6 mile run.
Timed a 4.20 mile out & back route @ 44:06
Split time was 22:14, so I had a negative split coming back - 21:52, sweet! 8)
avg. pace per mile: 10:30
Then ran/walked the last 2 miles, not keeping time.
Pretty happy with that. I wasn't trying to run it fast, just tried to keep an even steady pace throughout most of the run and pick it up towards the end. :D

Saving long 9 miler for Monday morning. I hope I can do it!! I'm not too proud to walk parts of it, if that's what it takes to get the distance. Just found out that parts of the 1/2 marathon race course are along very hilly brick streets. Brutal surface to run on! ugh! :?
