There are only two ways running is realistically a resistance exercise of any kind.
1. You run up a load of hills, where you're fighting against the upslope, or perhaps use an inclined Treadmill instead.
2. You run with a Backpack loaded with weight.
Number 2 is not really that much of a feasible thing and may not be entiely 100% safe in relation to Bone structures and number 1, would not be as good as doing things like Squats, Lunges Extensions etc etc.
Whilst those options would in mind provide some resistance type work for the Legs, as opposed to Anaerobic exercise, they wouldn't be that close in comparison.

Yes, too many squats with heavy weight does affect your lower body but running isn't en-half you need to squat at least once a week.
I would suggest you to do squat 1 day/week and running 10-15 min everyday.

Re: DOes leg training affect height ??
No worries, man. I actually did one of research papers for certification on this exact topic. Train your legs freely as hard as you want; it won't effect your height. There is no scientific evidence at all that would indicate that weight training effects growth negatively. In fact, because of the increase in HGH, it could actually contribute to it (just a hunch).
The only negative training that could possibly effect the growth in the legs is high impact training, specifically on the knees, such as the high impact landings in gymnastics. But, that's only because high impact training is particularly hard on the growth platelets in the region of the knees. Even that is sometimes disputed as to whether or not it actually effects growth.
Hope that helps you.

I used to run the steps in the stadium at college. Running steps will definitely build up the quads. Running hills will work the femoral biceps and calves.
Bicycling will also work the quads.

no leg traning not effect to your height in opinion so do not think it just exercise to maintain your fitness only shoulder exercise effect your growing height.
