Tired of being the fat girl
Hey y'all,
so I'm new and just started a serious workout regime along with diet monitoring...i'm tired of being the fat girl so it's time for a big lifestyle change!
Stats:
26 years old
female (duh)
5'7
240 lbs (was 269 last august, so progress already!)
Ideal weight: 150 lbs (and the last time I weighted that I was 11!)
I'm loving the gym already and just bought a scale with body fat measure on it too, so I'll post that later.
It really helps to know that you are out there fighting for the same thing, so I'm really posting this just to keep up the motivation!
thanks and good luck,
Cat

Keep up the good work girl! You said you wanted to know others who have to do it so just to let you know, I started at 360 and am currently 265. goal was to lose 140 but I think I am going to go for it and try for 180 exactly 1/2 body weight. Don't give up and don't be discouraged.....if I can do it...anyone can do it!! 95 down and 45-85 to go!
after flu...picking up the pace again
Respect! Wow, that does help though...I've just had the flu for a week and spent it mostly lying on the couch feeling sorry for myself and eating away the loneliness with chocolate...woops!Tillylace wrote:Keep up the good work girl! I haven't been to the gym in 12 days (!), but I will go today! I find that back and neck start hurting if I don't exercise..probably due to heavy bodyweight, a bad bed and cheap shoes

I try to watch posture and have had physical therapy in the past, cause one of lower vertebrae is a little crooked.
What's the best thing against lower back pain? Abs-exercises?
I already figured out that the elliptical helps too, since it's an all-over movement with a nice fluidity to it. But: feet start sleeping sometimes, when I'm on the elliptical. Any tips how to prevent that?
Thanks y'all

The best thing for lower back pain is abs and light lower back exercises, u may have pain in this area cuz its muscles are weak, so it is better for u to make it stronger but slowly and take ample rest before working it out again, give it a week in the beginning, back muscles take about a week to recover... so dont push it...
Strengthening the dore muscles will help with lower back pain. Lower back and abdominal exercises are great. There are a huge variety of exercises that you can do. Also, light streting to maintain or even increase flexibility helps.
Your feet falling asleep could be because of the bad shoes....

Thank you all for the advice.
gym has the perfect class for me, I just found it last week. It's 60 minutes and a combination of aerobic exercises like squats, lunges, jumping jacks, marching in place (40 min) and Pilates-type-floorwork like crunches, push ups and leg lifts (20 min).
It leaves me energetic and happy, though sore as hell the next day:)
Can I do crunches every morning at home, or is that pushing it?
Otherwise I'm concentrating on cardio for the moment, mostly elliptical and upright bike.
And I'll go buy some better gymshoes when the next paycheck comes
