new user needs help....

Post by Talon »

Hey Guys, here is story. Im about 5"10, decent build, approx 225 pounds, approx 22% . I've recent started eating health and exercising again as i need to get back in shape and stay that way to pass testing comming up. overall goal is to cut fat and strength training as the mass is not as important to me and what im trying to do. I eat well, get plenty off sleep, do cardio for approx 1 hour 5 times a week and weight train for about an hour 3-4 times a week for about an hour each as well. I eat healthy meals 3 times a day with protein shakes, so im consuming food or drinks every 2 1/2 hours, drink a gallon of water every day. These are big changes for me since i use to eat fast food everyday, smoke, no exercise, and live on Monster Energy drinks. issue is that no matter how hard i train or how healthy i eat i cannot cut weight. Any advice???

Firstly you don't need all the Cardio. limit to 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes. Choose something that isn't too adaptive like Interval for example, as steady state may be too mild or adpative to provide long term benefits.

If you're training 3-4 times a week you have 2 options.

1. Total body stuff 3 times a week, or some sort of split like Leg / Biceps, Chest / Triceps, Back, Shoulders

2. Some kind of split, like Upper, Lower, Upper, Lower, for example.

Water is fine. Protein shakes aren't something to be too reliant on. Yes after workouts, maybe before bed and maybe half a scoop with Breakfast, but realistically, get 5 meals a day and a shake, not 3 meals and 3 dhakes.

Aim for 2,500 calories a day, for starters Protein intake 1.2g per lb, 1,5 max, thne you're good to go.

Hey,

If i were you, I would just use total body workouts that only uses compound exercises done at max speed. That's the best way to train for fat loss.

Drink ur 1-2 gallons of water and eat 4-6 meals a day. You don't need protein shakes for anything, even your post workout meal. Just make sure your eating healthy with a lot of fruits and vegetables while cutting your meat and dairy intake.

Hoped that helped
