snapping tendons/muscles?

Post by skully »

This has been happening to me for a long time and only few days ago a physiotherapist told me I have "snapping tendons". Basically, everytime I sqiat and but is parellel with knees, the muscles/tendons..whatever it is - snaps and it feels VERY uncomfortable. I am not sure what's the deal with this...thats why I cant do full sqauts, with or without weights...-any ideas? How to this?

FYI sth similar alsp happened in abs area today, closer to pelvic/pelvis area..or whatever its called...very frustrating!

What else did they say? They told you what it was, but what did they advise themselves, or did they only say they could do that, if you returned and paid some kind of fee?

It was a physio working in the gym, thats her background, she's like a trainer ..well she said thar some muscles are not developed and thats why it snaps...and told me to do things like side leg raises while standing and working abductors...i don't know...i dont feel ive neglected any leg part to have uch undeveloped muscles. she also said i "limp" when i walk..i truyl dont see it or feel it - but she said shes trained to see such things =S

I do i do half sqiats cuz of the tendons snapping, but i do deadlifts, leg curls, leg extensions, leg press, and calves raises (both seated and standing)..shouldnt some of these work abductors as well? =S

i think i mightve fractured knee or sth, left knee...cuz it hurts like f*ck when i sit for a little whole (15)...while driving, and everything..and i can see what the trainer said...I DO LIMP when i walk...seems like i have been for so long...now that i think about it..it hurts now..and i think squatting made it worse..i am saying bye bye to squating of all kinds.

Get the knee looked at. Leave Squats for now, but don't abandon them for good. You might have been Squatting one day and made a mistake with technique, it can be easily done. A lapse in concentration, slight lapse in checking body position before a set.

I did somethign similar today and felt it. Used the Smith for Squats, wrapped a mat round it for Neck cushioning, got feet in the right place, head placed centre of the mat, but it felt a little unusual and after the set, I checked and the mat was about 2.5 inches more over to one side, yet I'd placed feet in the usual position, so I must have created a minor misalignment of the body, somewhere between the Neck and feet.

A simple lapse before the set, but nothing untoward resulted afterwards, so I'm fine.

However when you cause a slight mistake in technique and twinge something, the tolerance level of the area goes down, so then anything that stimulates that are could potentially aggrevate it.

You could do Lunges, cause a slight knee issue by accident, get it doing Squats as well and mistake your problem as related to Squats.

Same thing with something like Dumbbell Bench Presses, but you feel it more on Shoulder exercises, so you blame them.

I don't necessarily speak from expreience on that point, but from common sense. You may feel it on an exercise, but that may not be the culprit for the problem, nor should you stop doing it.

If the exercise has caused it, through a slight mistake in technique, then it's human error, not a poor choice of exercise.

Squats are not bad except for a lot of people that attempt to go past 90 degrees when they bodies don't like it. That's a contentious issue anyway. Some say never go past 90, some say not eveyone should go past 90, some brag about being able to like it's something to be proud of.

I favour the go to 90 and back up method. Never go below 90, as I don't believe it's right.

So leave the Squats alone for now, if you're feeling it the most on those and when you're over the problem, get back on them.

I don't know if you stretch much, but you should start to everyday if you don't. This may help to loosen you up and keep you limber. I know I neglected stretching on a regular basis for a while and started getting the snapping and popping quite a bit. I made it a priority to stretch everyday for 10 to 15 minutes and it really helped out.
