diet and nutrition for shift workers

Post by ripz »

hey new to this place, was just wondering if anyone out there could give me some tips on diet and nutrition for a shift worker like myself. shifts never really have any regualraity to them. eg: one day might be working a morning shift then 2 days later could be a night shift etc. i think im in pretty good shape and eat very healthy and go to the gym a lot and play several sports weekly. was just wondering if there are certain things i should be eating late at night or early morning whilst at work to help etc.. and say if i get up at midday after a night shift should i eat breakfast or lunch... tad confused..

any help would be greatly appreciated

cheers

well if i work night shift i would eat dinner at home. which is usually just chicken or meat with veggies. then go to work and usually have some youghurt with muesli n fruit then maybe later on a snack like some almonds and a bannana or a protein shake

if its day shift ill usually just take some tuna and some salad and again a snack like some nuts n fruit

mornings ill usually have a protein shake and some toast before work then at work some yohgurt muesli and fruit.

one of main problems is eating in good sequence eg: every 3-4 hours. i struggle with this because of the ever changing shift patterns. and would anyone also know some high protein low carb reciepes that are quick and easy. time is also biggest problem. i also tend to go to the gym a lot before or after work. is there anything i should be eating/doing to help that.

High Protein, Low Carb is a bit of an issue.

Things like Chicken Salad, Turkey with a small portion of Cashews, Chicken with an Apple. Things like that may work for you.
