alcohol??

Post by Epiphany »

Hey!
So i know the most ideal thing when trying to loose weight is NOT to drink alcohol but I am I am making a lifestyle change and at 21 years it is just unreasonable to think I won't be drinking especially with the summer coming up! So I am wondering what is the best alcohol to drink and what should I stay away from?

I wouldn't necessarily say that the "most ideal thing when trying to lose weight is NOT to drink alcohol"... however drinking an excessive amount or drinking regularly could hinder your progress. I think drinking a reasonable amount occassionally is fine (for instance a beer or two once or twice a month) however I wouldn't get too carried away.

If you're asking about low calorie drinks (which is something different), I find martinis and cosmos to be the best for me since I don't like straight liquor. Cosmos have about 110 calories per drink, which is about the same as a glass of white wine...and I find I need less cosmos than wine to feel slightly buzzed. Anything with a mixer like fruit juice or daiquiri mix or anything that's sweet and fruity and tastes good is FULL of calories. I think the Ruby Relaxer drink that tastes so awesome at Ruby Tuesday is like 800 calories a pop.
Ha! Really, a beer or two once or twice a month is unreasonable? LOL! I suppose you're right.

Unfortunately, saying what is the best Alcohol, is like saying what is the best injury to suffer, if you like riding a motorbike.

One of the absolute worst by a mile is Baileys Irish Cream. That stuff is loaded with Fat and Calories. After checking on the web, it has over 15g fat per glass and a total of around 350 calories for 3 glasses. Vile, absolutely vile.

Ha. I'd rather do alot of things than get toasted. I'm so over the whole drinking thing. I think I'm getting old. :( But hey atleast that means no more hangovers!!!

Sorry if we're a bunch of downers when it comes to the whole drinking thing. Its not that we're not supporting you, its that we've been there and done the drinking thing and learned through experience that its just not conducive to leading a healthy, active, productive lifestyle. Basically if nothing else we're trying to let you know that its not all its cracked up to be. The site is called "shapefit... Get Into Shape. Stay Fit.". We're really here to offer advice on getting fit, being healthy, and maintaining overall wellness. I, personally don't come on this forum to advise people on things such as "what kind of alcohol is going to do the least amount of damage to your goals". To me that like coming on here and asking if you should use chewing tobacco, cigarettes, or cigars... OR asking if you should be eating twinkies, ho hos, or bon bons. None of those are good options. Sorry but at 7 calories per gram I can't advise you to drink any amount of alcohol. Not to mention, I did the alcohol thing a bit in younger days and I can HONESTLY tell you that not one positive thing EVER came out of me drinking. Obviously youre at that time in your life where drinking is what most people do. That is perfectly fine. I won't judge you and I would be more than happy to help you with your health and fitness goals. However I will not tell you what alcohol you "should" be drinking.

I'd probably come close to wetting pants if someone actually came here and asked that.

Cassies response: Well personally I like to go for one of those long, thin, curvy white Pipes, the ones you see Irish Leprechauns smoking in pictures. then I usually fill it just to brimming with some rough shag and give it 3 puffs, then one for luck, to make sure I've properly ignited the shag. Sometimes I'll even just put it back in mouth and move lips around the end a bit, as if I'm ruminating on an important decision.

I've tried chewing tobacco, but really I find puffing on a good bit of rough shag, really gets synapses firing and helps me think.

:P :P :P

I actually saw a picture once of a female bodybuilder, who looked about 150-160lbs of muscle, smoking a Cigar. She looked like Hannibal out of the A-team. It just looked so wrong on so many levels.
